IMPROVING New player experience (Took me an hour to write this)

I've found what will kill LOL

I have just read a discussion on the main problem of the game, which is the fact that the community is extremely unfriendly in terms of treating players who feed, or the people who are new and not as good as their opponents. I definitely agree with this, along with almost everyone in that discussion.

I won't say much about this as this is already addressed in his discussion. I highly recommend you all to read it carefully if you haven't, as it has explained the main issue that we are not realizing, including Rioters themselves.

Fortunately, there SHOULD be a valid solution to this, as long as we approach the problem from the whole 'matchmaking system'. As we all know, we are matched with players with a similar MMR, and we can technically say that we are in a 'fair game' as we ignore the player difference.

For a new player, Ranked is a daunting experience. Not only they have much less experience than most people on their team and the enemy team, they are treated as players in the same elo. For example, a player with 400 games might be stuck in silver, but by no means that they are NOT A GOOD PLAYER IN THAT ELO. This player is much better than the player who has only finished their 10th ranked game a.k.a placements, who will probably end up being destroyed. What will happen next is simple: the new player gets flamed, and he starts to lose interest in the game. This is a typical situation that has made League of Legends community such a toxic community.

MMR should be calculated based on the number of games a player has played, AS WELL AS the performance. As boosting is not allowed in the first place, and it has been disrupting the overall game experience, this should fix the bad new player experience. If a player has played only 10 ranked games then they should be matched with players with a similar number of games, and if a player has played over 400 ranked games then they should be matched with people that have played a similar amount of ranked games as well. That way there is no skill gap between the players, which leads to much less toxicity.

Note: By no means that this New MMR must be applied to both Ranked and Normals. People may have as much fun as they want in Normals, and I understand that this MMR might disrupt the enjoyment.

Obviously, this is a pretty controversial solution and may lead to other problems, but I will do my best to list the problems and hopefully find a solution to this. PLEASE DO FEEL FREE TO HELP ME IN FINDING BETTER SOLUTIONS

[Smurfs and Boosters]

This is probably the main issue with this solution. As most of you might know, smurfs generally have very little games in contrast to their skill level, and with this change, they will literally destroy people every game.

To deal with this, smurf accounts should be linked/connected with one's main account. Perhaps Riot can invent a system where the smurf account can be identified as a second account of one owner, and the owner will be asked to type in their main account's username and password, in order to implement the MMR of the main account. They can also implement something like an icon on their rank e.g 'smurf' to notify players that this person does not belong in this elo.

This still takes account of the fact that NOBODY LIKES SMURFS! A diamond player should not be able to play ranked in bronze/silver and absolutely destroying them, just for the sake of other's entertainment. This can righteously be considered as SADISM, but only in a game!

There is not much to say about boosters. It is not allowed in the first place and the accounts being heavily boosted should be banned. Riot should make a new system or put together a specfic team in dealing with boosters that disrupt the experience for new players.

[Duo queue(maybe dynamic queue as well)]

There's not much to do about this. Duo queue might suffer if this MMR is implemented. Yet at the end of the day, Duo queues should be between real life friends, and the new player should know that if their friend has been playing for a long time then he should expect some pretty good players. This is still the case now. Duo queue can be a coin flip and sometimes people get unlucky and get matched with players much better than them, and people might have to roll with it sometimes.

Long Queue times

Again, this is an issue that might come into play because of this. But since the whole point of this change is about attracting new players, I am confident with the fact that there will be more new players and the queue times can be lowered. Riot can leave a message about long queue times in exchange for better game experience, and I'm sure that people will understand.

Thanks for reading. Do leave more potential issues that might come up with my idea. I really do hope Riot is trying to do something to fix the current community. I've been playing this game since preseason 6 and I think this is the best game that I've ever played, I will certainly do my best to keep this game from dying.
