Good job, Riot.

So when can we expect LP gains/losses to be based on individual performance as well?

Never.

It doesn't matter how well you do in a Ranked game. There shouldn't be any incentive on anything except winning the game.

Individual performance doesn't win games - LP. Recognizing someone who doesn't feed and maintains positive KDA's - Veteran Status. LP Gains being based on individual performance would create a vacuum effect of people afk'ing at fountain when they have a positive KDA in a losing effort, so their LP isn't affected to a higher degree, versus bringing their positive stats to the fray.

They used to do this in Chess in the 50's and earlier. In the 60's, Alpert Elo created the Elo ranking system to remove the random biases' that exist in a system like that and found the ranking system on something concrete. The matchmaking for LoL system is based off Elo.
