Juggling ideas around: Force muting for another player

Today i was thinking:

this would be for ranked queues only

one of the many reasons that games can be lost is simply because people would rather argue than win the game... so I thought of something why not be able to force mute 2 (or even 3) arguing teammates amongst eachother.

in other words if teammates start to argue and it gets too bad, allow the ally team to casta vote to either restrict them from chatting (and thus arguing) and muting the allied player whom they are arguing with.....

this works both ways. if somebody is abusing a certain teammate why not just vote them muted for him just in case he doesnt have the state of mind to do it himself. It always hurts when i see people doing this to people who i do see are genuinely trying. and when these go on record that the team had to forcibly seperate them, it could even help in quicker tribunal decisions.

naturally the specifics arent exactly clear of how a system like this would work (note the title is juggling ideas around) but i think it's interesting in theory, please do discuss maybe we could even try to make this an actual thing,

I just imagine premade teams getting a random and all decide to be a dick to him and all vote mute him.

This is what chat restrictions are for. If people act like this much they get chat restricted. Otherwise it should be the person's choice how to handle it. Otherwise it just makes a shitty situation that removes freedom of choice from the plYer.

in real life if people are about to fight and somebody jumps in and stops it before bad choics are made yes it's "removing freedom" but when people are mad their decision making plummets. and when people are too busyt typing that makes them plummet as well.

Ive had this happen so many times where i would say

"just mute him" "NO, FUCK THIS GUY!! HE DESERVES IT"

or

"come on dude, calm down stop typing and play" "NO, HE SUCKS AND HE NEEDS TO HEAR IT"

so that "choice" has gotten them reported and lost the team a game. they were angry, and acted irrationally. thats how whole teams get placed on tilt.

Yeah but irl you can walk away from that shit too and in the game you can't walk away from the troll without being leaver buster hit, so I'm less inclined to compare the two than I might be otherwise. I don't think it is the right decision, but if someone is frustrated enough to rage back at someone and won't listen to appeals to reason they probably will be really upset by this. I have on rare occasion been in a bad enough mood that I fit this and in that mood wouldn't have calmed down and won the few games I have that were like that (maybe 10-40% range), and would have just lost all of them bc now I'm not mad at one person and feel guilty about harming 3 others if I throw, I'm mad at 4 people bc I was mad to begin with and they did something that in an irrational state of mind (yay adrenaline) I would perceive as an attack on me and justify throwing the game bc there was no longer anyone I wanted to help out.

Maybe this is an example that would be uncommon (my brain chemistry when it comes to anger is definitely an outlier on the curve), but I think it would happen in enough games it might not be worth it.
