Can we fix guinsoos for melee after kog is getting changed?

MunchCrunchLunch··24 votes·1,525 views

The item. was indeed overpowered. it had too many stats. too many of every stat it gave. Right now. its no good on melees. it gives less stats than before. the on hit damage is about 1/3 , and its 700 gold more expensive. and also takes 6 autos to stack. i believe the old one took 3 or 4 i think.

can we give melees two stacks per auto or something.

its not even a good purchase when your fed because its so expensive you will put yourself behind buying it.

at least increase the on hit damage from 15 to like. 30. but even then it has to stack faster for melees.

I just want this item to be less awkward to purchase. I mean, I buy a item 1043 then when I upgrade it, I lose all the attack speed I just purchased.

I know you can get it back if you stack Guinsoo, and more.

However, it would be better in that case if they just gave natural attack speed to Guinsoo and lowered the amount of attack speed you gain per stack.

There are no other items in this game that make you lose stats by upgrading it, except peharps item 3053 if you don't have enough base AD.

or let it increase damage only and keep the attackpeed in it's base form.

thats fine too. whatever. it is to make it. at least. a useable item.

item 3053

Gonna point out that if your abilities have bonus AD scaling, Sterak's actually lowers your damage from abilities since it gives base AD and not bonus AD.

There is also this fact

When I build guinsoo for varus mid having the attack speed before I finish the item actually helps out a lot, and I try to wait to finish guinsoo until I have enough for attack speed boots at the same time

vayne can abuse this item easily fast 24% max hp true dmg in few hits

morris14 votes

Considering you waste 1000g worth of stats on ability power and the attack speed isn't even there until you start auto attacking I don't see how it is abusable.

TequilaZombie2 votes

It's abusable because how fast she can proc her W. It's not broken because she's making a heavy investment to get it.

It's kinda like Shaco being able to abuse SS and IE with his Q.

1000 gold of stats, for a retarded amount of true damage and doubling bork passive

there is a reason that gosu builds it.

Sightless664 votes

He almost never builds it, and there is a very good reason: it usually sucks.

vayne W is best onhit on game with no counter

Or just delete it entirely and be glad that the game is better off without it.

Croiss3 votes

It's pretty much a Kayle only item now.

Seenan2 votes

Nah. It'll break AA champs again (Devo).

DrCyanide2 votes

It's a hybrid item, and more than half of the hybrid champions are ranged. Making it melee only seems like the wrong choice.

I still miss my item 3124 Volibear top lane, crushing pretty much any top laner with the old rageblade + fervor

Yep the new guinsoos has returned to the obscurity where it resided before the remake.

Riot really needs to give hybrid damage and builds a proper overhaul. Right now there are too few hybrid champs/items, there could open up and entirely new dimension to gameplay but instead it's just so awkward and difficult to balance in it's current form. They remade Guinsoos this season to try to open hybrid builds back up, but instead they made the item itself so powerful that all auto-based melees could use it.

They need to drastically lower the attack-damage element and perhaps reduce the on-hit repeat to one in every 3 attacks (so it is easier to balance, and not so extreme in abuse cases like kog, yi etc) or have the effect halved- then it can be buffed in the hybrid areas.

item 3124 Guinsoo's Rageblade - 3200g

item 1026 + item 1043 + item 1037 + 475g

25 Attack Damage 50 Ability Power 25% Attack Speed

UNIQUE: Basic attacks against champions grant +2% attack speed, +2 attack damage and +5 ability power for 5 seconds, stacking up to 9 times, granting a total of +18% attack speed, +18 attack damage and +45 ability power. Melee attacks grant an additional stack every other auto attack (require 6 attacks instead of 9). At 9 stacks, gain GUINSOO'S RAGE.

UNIQUE – GUINSOO'S RAGE: Basic attacks deal an additional 20+ (+15% bonus AD) (7.5%AP) magic damage on-hit. Every other basic attack will trigger on-hit effects an additional time (50% effective).

So essentially this would make Rageblade the full-damage hybrid item that it was always meant to be, with the phantom hit included - but as this effect is only 50% effective it can still be a great pickup but not totally breaking someone's kit like Yi or Vayne.

I'd take it in completely the opposite direction. Fuck the hybrid element and focus it entirely on supporting on-hit builds. All the hybrid stats do is limit who can purchase it. There is no reason to try to limit it to hybrid on-hit champions when it could be for all on-hit champions instead.

I think either direction could work - just don't leave it as it is. I also think the phantom effect as it stands is far too strong potentially so it has to be balanced around that - if that is removed or nerfed (50% reduction would be good imho) then the item can be put to good use.

I'd rather it be kept hybrid but that's because I love the idea of hybrid champs and build paths - though like I said this entire element of the game needs a rework.

It is actually in an even worse spot than it was season 5. It was actually a great item then even for people one might not have thought about. It is actually supposed to be for berserking more than anything else, and riot tried to change it from that identity. It was MUCH better at berserking than the Maw or Sterak's was, and it cost less, this shit was scary as fuck on Olaf/Jax/Akali/Aatrox/Morde/etc. Look at that list of champs, they really aren't a very similar set, but the item was just forgotten about even though it was pretty damn good.

Dracocrash1 votes

Guinsoo is already gimped on kog'maw to begin with. It only applies every 4th attack. So I dont think the current guinsoo is balanced around kog'maw.

Count Zubat1 votes

Imo, they shouldn't have reworked it YET AGAIN after removing devourer. They should have just left it in state it was after pre-season instead of giving it the phantom hit passive. But that's just my personal opinion, I'm fully aware that the way phantom hit is utilised on Guinsoo is much more healthy and balanced than how it was with sated.

SaltyKracka1 votes

It needs to die in a fire and be forgotten entirely. Seriously, who would want to build a newly buffed Guinsoo's and not be immediately overpowered with it?

Jax? Actually way too powerful in both top and jungle rn.

Kindred? Doing just fine.

Kayle? Legitimate super cancer.

Shyv? Doing just fine.

Xin? Just fine as well.

Nobody wants Guinsoo's Irelia back.

Legit the only champions who might be healthier with a newly buffed Guinsoo's (Yi, Aatrox) have a bunch of fundamental issues anyways.

The hilarious bit is, they had nerfed Phantom Hit to every 4th hit for ranged champions instead of every 2nd-3rd hit back when it was Devourer because people like Vayne, Kayle, Twisted Fate and Kog'Maw abused it. But now it's a ranged-oriented item because they can stack it easier.[slayer-jinx-unamused]
