i just got 31 lp from a single game, lost 9 lp on a loss
im silver 4 finishing silver 3 last season. i didnt think my mmr should be that much higher, so im wondering if its still bugged?

How Riot and fanboys can justify a system that sometimes gives you less points when you win a games and takes more points when you lose, while simultaneously giving other players triple or even quadruple the points on a win AMAZES me.
not many have justified it tbh, not even riot. this in addition has only been happening this season due only to an mmr bug. hence the high elo reset.

You an are justifying it regularly, in a thousand small ways, you included. The system gives dramatically different ratios of points on win/loss, but you talk about what may be bugged this season.
If you would open your brain a tiny bit, the MMR system makes zero sense. If I told you how about whenever I win I get 30 lp and when you win you get 16 lp, YOU WOULD NEVER AGREE TO THAT. NEVER.
i currently do agree to that though. if someones mmr is truly that bad, then they deserve cut losses. whats worse is that this isnt even a league specific thing, this happens in dota, paladins, smite, and overwatch, and this is built into the basic fundementals of the mmr elo system itself. only difference is league uses a slightly modified version.
the only exception to this rule, was as i said in the OP, when its a bug that aint right.

Why? Explain. Why does anyone deserve more or less points for winning/losing? What is that reason not even tied to performance of it should exist? If I have been in a losing streak, I know this is going to be shocking; I've already lost a lot of lp. If I then correct mistake or gameplay, why should there be a weight holding me down? How does that make sense to you?
because how much mmr you lose is dependent on the opponents your fighting. if youre consistently losing to people statistically lower then you are (which may not even be punishing the mistake you're making all the time) then you don't deserve the rank, and as you said in another reply, were simply carried.
They can because they understand how the system works, simple as that. The number of LP you win/lose per game is determined by the difference between your MMR and the average MMR for your Rank, so that the two get closer together over time if you have an average winrate.
I can elaborate, if you want. But if you're here just to throw shades at Riot, you don't need me.

Yes please elaborate. Just repeating the lines you read about how it works doesn't mean you understand jack. Show me your math,, or even point to the math, that confirms the Accuracy of this system. How does a system that chooses the winners and losers from practically the beginning off a couple random games, then confirms it's own assumptions by gimping point gain and loss, make any sense?
Do you know just how many people play this game? Do you know how many start ranked? Do you know how many of those never come back after ten matches? How many people do you think get carried through placement? Do you think that never happens? With the amount of people that play this game? Do you believe improvement in skill is always linear? That's the only kind of progression this system would even theoretically support.
I go on full winning streaks where I win 17/ 20 matches, then losing streaks just as bad. The current system makes decision about where you belong in first ten games. Those games can be random, but here matchmaker is having it all figured out like a super genius of just ten games.
In a system that made any sense, it wouldn't be "deciding" who gets more and who gets less, *it would just track what everyone gets and display the results in whatever format floats your boat.
Show me your math.

Mmr has been pretty bugged ever since they removed positional ranking but I also had this happen getting 40 a win and 9 a loss when I was g3 last season but g2 when this was happening. Probably still bugged
because mmr is fucking garbage, up in moderately high elo you get 19lp ATMOST and 19 on a loss. The game doesn't want you to climb at all up there but it wants people to feel like they can climb by giving massive LP amounts in lower elos so that way they stick around longer.
