Riot doesn't know what stun means

It is not the biggest issue in the game, yet it is very annoying. I was playing Annie against a Galio. When I stunned him, he was standing still, "stunned" appeared above his head, he had no cleanse, no qss obviously, yet he was dashing to me and knocked me up while he was "stunned" during the whole process. This is just one example of many that makes me believe Riot doesn't actually know what stun means and how it should work.

Well, dear Riot, let me tell you that real stun actually prevents any action and stops every ongoing action which releated to the stunned person's consciousness. There is no dashing, attacking, spinning with a sword like nothing happened or any other bs. What you programmed into your game and calling a "stun" is just a label above heads, nothing else.

Stuns do not stop dashes mid-dash.

Yup, that would interrupt all the flashy plays and we cant have that.

Which is why it isn't really a stun... like I said. Btw, how did you understand this part "he was standing still" as he was in mid-dash.

If you turn of a car at full speed it will still go for a while. You know like phsics and stuff, newtons first axiom.

If you don't start the car it won't start itself, accelerate and drive to a certain place on its own. Basic reality stuff.

It stuns the character, stopping them from taking action. Actions are not stopped because no counteractive force is applied (such as a knock back). Galio dash has a cast time and a windup, which he was most likely in rather than standing still.

Could you explain to me how exactly Garen is stopped from taking actions while he can continuously spin and deal damage during the "stun"?

Spin to win is a buff on him, not an action (hence urf spin spam, where multiple buffs can be active at once). Conversely channels (like vel r, malz r, jhin r) are stopped by stuns because you're actively channeling the spell.

Stun is a term for a gameplay mechanic which obeys the set gameplay rules.

Please use the context of in game.

Applying the in game logic to real world is a bit of a mistake cuz Vladimir should be hard countered by Malphite Blitzcrank Galio Karthus Mordekaiser due to their lack of blood.

Caitlyn shooting some one in the head should be lethal. ETC.

For years stuns do what they do: they prevent unit from starting new action but don't stop ongiong ones. There are some spells that are specifically made to be cancelled by stuns(channeling spells, spells that require you to not be hardcc'ed, Yasuo's E) but most of them still go off. Not just dashes, Lux will still scream whatever phrase and launch a laser if you stunned/silenced/displaced her mid-cast. Maybe this is not really logical, but it worked like this for the whole time and everyone eventually got used to it. Its the same with the "autoattack will hit if it started" rule. It is weird, it results in people flashing away then dying to melee AA of the enemy 400 range away, Rengar can jump at the place you just flashed away and still deal damage to you, but its a rule.

That moment where you’re a Galio main, and some guy claims Galio has a stun in his kit. And to top it off claims someone else doesn’t know what a stun is....

Galio has

  • W: taunt and slow (technically it’s a MS reduction cause it sets people to a flat movespeed, but it’s easier to call it a slow)
  • E: Knockup
  • R: AOE Knockup.

Not a single stun to be seen

The moment when someone is such a dumbass that cannot comprehend his own native language....
