Posting about balance issues won't change a thing

Just think about it for a second. Every single one of us can think of numerous cases when a champion was busted broken and destroyed every elo or made the game pure suffering for the enemy laner. Why does it take months and years for Riot to solve these issues? There are two possible explanations:

  1. They are totally incompetent or
  2. They are intentionally making the game unbalanced and don't give a fuck about our experience.

I think it is a little of both.

Don't tell me it is not incompetency when they buff a champion in a patch just to nerf it 2 patches later. if it wasn't strong before the buff (which is why they wanted to buff) then reverting the change would be enough, however, they rather nerf it even further which means they think the original state of the champion was too strong. So they think of the exact same state of the champion as it is underpowered and a few days later as it is overpowered. I am pretty sure everyone can think of examples. Don't tell me it is not incompetency when they apply a patch that brings hundreds of bugs and makes the game unplayable despite the fact they have a fucking test server. etc.

On the other hand, it doesn't take months of work to apply a nerf so it obviously their will to keep champions/the game in an unbalanced state. I am not talking about minor issues, I am talking about major ones that influenced the whole game from iron 4 to pro play e.g. Akali, Irelia, etc. Even after they nerf the broken champions eventually they always buff other champions at the same time to be broken. E.g. Jax now or Kled. Everyone knows these champions didn't need the buffs they got, everyone knows they are becoming broken asf. Were there enough threads on these boards to bring attention to the topic? Yes. Did Riot give the slightest fuck about your/our opinion? No.

All in all, it is really pointless to waste your time with making threads about balance issues because it doesn't matter if you are right, it doesn't matter how many people agree with you, Riot doesn't give a damn about it.

Although if you want to do it anyway I wish you good luck with it.

Or...More realistically, the boards have no fucking idea how to balance, and try to propose changes based on a few games or by parroting someone's rant.

To prove my point, here's an excerpt from your post:

You say this, except reworked Akali was never a problem in Iron 4. Or Bronze 5, whichever was around then. Akali was strictly a high-tier (possibly only proplay) problem. The only thing Akali would have done to you is lost your promos when your teammates picked her.

The board is full of rant and shit, yes, however, it doesn't explain why Riot doesn't solve balance issues on its own. Also, rants usually just fade away, get downvoted. When something is upvoted to be a top conversation for a long time it usually has something meaningful to say and represents the opinion of not just one person but the community instead.

My post isn't about why Riot doesn't listen to the boards though. They should have enough knowledge about their own game to do a good work without considering random players' opinion. Also it is not about certain champions either. I just randomly brought up some examples. As I mentioned, everyone can have their own examples because this game is full with them. If you conveniently ignore everything that is unexplainable stupidity from Riot and want to find something that is questioning my competency feel free to do it. It still has nothing to do with the post. Not to mention saying that Akali was fine just because nooby noobs couldn't play with her is a questionable argument from your part. You want to tell me Akali, Irelia, Vayne, etc. were not broken? Okay, then why did Riot nerfed them?

If balance was okay in this game then they wouldn't make trillion patches. They need to do it because they constantly (and intentionally) fuck up the balance. Anyway, you just proved my point from an other perspective: it is pointless to make threads about balance issues.

Apparently they don't either. Fucking buffing yasuo for no reason? Give me a break. Even the dumbest of dumb silvers would know that's a stupid ass idea.

Boards doesn't have a fucking clue on how to balance a game.

Dusk is right.

99% of the posts about a champion are fueled by bias and rage because the person complaining has no idea how to beat the champion.

Every champion in the game is beatable.

If a champion wasn't beatable they'd have 100% win rates.

There's a reason why Riot never listens to people on these boards and it's pretty much what I said above.

It usually goes this way: 1. a champion gets a buff 2. boards say "don't do it, it will be broken" 3. Riot does it anyway 4. champion stomps in plat+ with 55%+ win rate 5. boards beg for nerf, Riot doesn't care 6. champions stomps in pro play 7. Riot nerfs it because "it seems this champion is a bit too strong now" 8. Riot nerfs the champion 3 more times (because it was actually so fucking broken) 9. champion gets gutted or achieve a relativly balanced state.

My question: if boards are "fucking clueless" and Riot knows what they are doing then why it is happening this way? Because with the nerfs Riot essentially admits that the board was right and they fucked up. It also means the game was in a fucked up state for months because Riot didn't care.

If a champion wasn't beatable they'd have 100% win rates.

False because it is still a teamgame and "gank it with 3 players" is still not a counterplay. When you have to decide your every move carefully and suffer all game under your turret while your opponent can play like shit but you still cannot punish him because his champion is so fucking broken then it doesn't matter if your team wins the game eventually because you had 0 fun. I don't know about you but I am still looking for fun in games.

Because balance doesn't affect income. If people stopped buying skins for overtuned stuff they would balance, but that won't happen. In fact I figure people are more likely to buy a skin for something that's broken.

maybe they would listen if we were pros

ihateyouallmuted2 votes

they can't actually listen to the pros for advice, seeing as how it would be a conflict of interest

e.g.

"G2 Mikyx, what support do you want to see changes in?"

G2 Mikyx: buff pyke i think hes a bit too weak rn

Remember the "new runes" when they first came out? Many people here immediatly noticed they weren't a good idea, but "hey, it's just pre-season", said the least smart ones.

And now here you go, 2 years of this "thing". Oh, but now there's Conqueror.

Riot August already admitted that they don't care about the boards because they're "big meanies". AKA this board keep it real and say what its gotta say. Truth is, Riot does not like hearing criticism, whether it's constructive or not. The moderators and Rioters browsing here are pretty much banished into the phantom zone, probably as a form of corporate hazing or punishment. They're entire job is to have a presence, give us their thoughts every once in a while, and punish those who get a little too unruly.

This isn't their perfectly maintained official Reddit page where you can only say nice things about the company and talk about how cool E-sports is. People of the forums aren't a hivemind and I think that's what scares Riot. They designed these forums to be their official Reddit-like forum and they abandoned it because people are critical here. I'm not saying that this board knows how to balance champions or anything like that, but at the very least Riot could put an ear to the ground. Maybe they should honestly take a look at a certain champion if it continually shows up as a thread topic over and over again. They don't have to rush to fix it right away, but at the very least, the bare minimum if you will, just give it some thought and bring it up in a balance discussion. Maybe give some feedback here if it continues to persist like a quick little "We are looking into this".

Or they can continue to ignore the forums because it's easy to write off the boards as being useless, mean, or they don't know what they're talking about. Because that's just honestly less effort on their part. They can keep this place running with a few moderators while their efforts can be spent talking to Reddit or something about how awesome e-sports is, or their favorite skins, cute little legends, really anything but actual gameplay and balance.

They really only care about professional League of Legends.

The rest of us can rot in their eyes.

The only reason we got Yuumi nerfs is not because so many in solo queue were banning her, but because she was the most banned champion in professional play, and that's what this game revolves around.

Supports in general are used to getting our items/champions/strats nerfed or reworked when they get powerful. Solo laners in professional play start abusing them, and Riot reacts quickly. That's not to say that those nerfs aren't always deserved (especially in Yuumi's case), but it's just something I've noticed over the years. I mean pro players are the whole reason why we got Sightstone changes in the first place and why we're now stuck with these stupid quests and pointless upgrades on our items.

It's likely why we'll never see things that are constantly upvoted like Tryndamere rework ideas too. Pros aren't talking about them, so Riot won't listen.

Her ban rate was disgustingly high in Solo queue also.

Especially higher up.
