Will Riot ever fix hitboxes?

8Belthazor8··31 votes·12,707 views

Seriously, this game has the worst hitbox system I've seen so far. Any game in Alpha status has better hitbox system than League of Legends. I am so tired of getting hit by something that actually missed me by miles. Is there any hope or I better just leave the game?

Update: Idc what you call it, hitbox or something else, this is not right.

Even tho people dont want to admit it since they all hate her, Zoe has some of the weirdest hit boxes in this game. The amount of times my E has flown through people in the past WEEK is stupidly high.

Same thing with Irelia. Half of the time my E just goes through the enemy and does nothing and the other half is when it completely misses and it still hits them. I am kinda used to cast my E around my enemies not on them so I can actually hit it.

noone hated zoes e as a projectile, everyone hated it once it hit the ground and became an aoe mine thing. other than zoes innate annoying design people fucking lost it because the sleepy field thing would randomly latch onto you and sleep you while you were seemingly nowhere near it

Thresh's Q actually has a L Shaped Hitbox. Since his hook is a scythe, at the very end of the range, his scythe's blade end (the L) hooks enemies who would walk in the left direction from his casting perspective. Not a lot of people know this, and it's a secret that some Thresh mains treasure very dearly for those sneaky hooks.

It's funny, I made a post just like this but with specific examples and I got chain downvoted by mage mains hahahaha.

One thing to keep in mind is that apparently Summoners Rift isn't properly made as a 3D map, thus why sometimes abilities like Jhin W doesn't fire where you aimed if you were using it as you were in the river area and aiming it somewhere in the top lane.

Or sometimes some hitboxes (Jhin W, Thresh Q, Blitz Q and so on) like to slightly move to the side at the end of the duration...

Given theres nothing wrong with hitboxes, id say problem solved.

Are you nuts? A minion could pass through the gap between my character and the missed enemy skillshot which sitll hits somehow. While other skillshots just go straight through the target's body without any effect. It doesn't matter if you flash away from Blitzcrank's E because he just punches in the air and you are knocked up 6 meters away from him. Yeah, it seems perfectly fine.

Skillshots are edge to edge, not center to center.

All enhanced autos complete on animation startup, meaning it wont matter if you flash, the animation started. Nothing to do with hitboxes.

autos connect no matter what. so do targeted abilities like nunus old q.

if blitz is in the process of the e since its an empowered auto it will hit as long as he was in range to start the original attack

I have captured several moments in which either the hitbox system or the whole game mechanic has just collapsed. I can provide said links if necessary

And all of them would just as quickly disproven.

Once you start paying more attention to the champ's feet and not the rest of them it gets a lot easier.

It'd also be easier if Riot would just make a circle to show the hitbox at each champ's feat but ya know, they won't for some reason.

Here's a couple examples.

I don't really care if I get disproven, I just want this kind of stuff to not be a problem.

Terrain elevation is not a thing for abilities, but is a thing for visuals. Lux aimed her ult right, it hit and landed. Only looks off because of camera angle and elevation differences. Working as intended.

Second.... theres nothing there that should even be questionable? Plant was hit, then fiora got hit by displacement. Order of how it operates means hecarims displacement takes priority, as it is the most recent action. Same reason Ez/Trist can get hit by displacements and still E/W away. Most recent displacement action takes priority.

Poppy used e, its not a skillshot. Not really complicated.

I'm subtly hinting that hitboxes are bit the only thing that is hypothetically a bit off in this game

Given you havnt provided any instances where hitboxes were wrong, its not a hint at anything.

Those spears go both ways, it's easier to dodge by visually trying to get hit. Really interesting game design choices by devs.

Have Very deceptive hit boxes. Mostly during the dashes and animation.

Blitz's Q still reaches out a little over its hand with a couple skins: it's funny when people ask themselves how on earth they ended up getting grabbed, but it's really annoying for the Blitz in question.

no because the problem isn't the hitbox (in most cases) but the perspective the game is being played in

Síva1 votes

The main problem is upper/lower ground: the game is programmed in 3D so the gamefield has a depth (eg. the river's Z coordinates are lower than midlane's). This leads to glitchy looking skillshots when they are fired from lower to upper ground or vice versa.

Although I think some hitboxes themselves need adjustments not related to this issue (eg. Lux's and Morg's Qs appear narrower)

Illaoi : E Test of Spirit. You think that you have dodge...

SanKakU1 votes

The 'missed but hit' effect is more accurately described as a randomly inaccurate visual display of the skillshot. In other words, the hitbox isn't being missed, the player aimed at the spot where the hitbox is, it just sometimes doesn't look like that's where they were aiming.

If you understand what I told you to be correct, then that means the way to deal with it is to be predictive when it comes to skillshots rather than reactive.

Curious Kat1 votes

Hitboxes/pathing/creepblock/client/bugs in general all come after $$$$$.

So no, probably never going to be fixed because Riot just says" it's old coding, we can't fix that, or it'll do this or that". Small indie company btw can't even recode their own shit.

BrokenRayquaza1 votes

Hitboxes are only like 50% the problem. The other half is that leagues map is 3d. Yeah. That's why jhin w in River is r word

Tr4shB4NSYST3M1 votes

If i remember correctly the last one they adjusted was gragas E b/c it was WAY bigger than the indicator. Ive seen other that are similar tho not quite as bad but still no word from rito on them.
