It's important to find your shot caller.
I'm not going to sit here and tell you I should be a higher elo. I've climbed from Plat 5 to 4 as my highest ever, but right now on this account I'm just gold 5, casually ranking up. What I will sit here and tell you is that I'm better than most in my elo and rarely lose my lane. I think there are probably a total of 10 out of 150 games in my ranked match history I've ever gone negative (not that's always indicative of good play.) And I will also say that I have very, very, very deep game knowledge. My mechanical skills aren't the BEST, (Plat 5 at best) but I rarely die to ganks or die in 1v1 lanes just because of sheer game knowledge.
Now, that being said, I think a team should identify who is calling the shots. I can't count how many games I've won just because the enemy team backed, we picked up baron, they came in for baron and we destroyed them, marched mid and won. It happens all the time. But I can't even fathom how many games I've lost because of throws. I can see a throw for a mile away. The biggest sign of a beginning of a throw is the "1 for 1" if you're ahead, you don't want to trade 1 for 1. That means they're getting gold they shouldn't have gotten and you're getting a small sum of gold you could have gotten from farming a camp or two.
It's disheartening. I feel like I have to teach people the game in-game. The fact is, a lot of these people don't understand some of the small points in this game. Wave management, Ward positioning, preparing for fights, defensive and offensive warding, trading, csing, creep denial, tower diving. They can do it mechanically, but don't know the impact it has. They don't KNOW that after 35 minutes, their team comp begins to outscale too hard and we'll lose. They just don't know. I don't blame them, I'll eventually over a long period of time get to a much higher elo where people WILL know, and I won't have to teach the game.
But in the meanwhile, if a guy seems to know what he's talking about, follow his call. If some guy is like "bouncing wave off turret" or is proxying a wave instead of destroying a turret in the very early game, the dude know's what he's doing. Let him guide you. He will 9/10 give you a better shot. This doesn't mean blindly throw at baron. Find the guy on your team with the most game knowledge and listen to him. He probably wants the win more than you do, but no one likes losing. It's just very, very disheartening so see a jinx standing behind a 20% life turret with half hp on herself being sieged by 4 people and thinking she's safe.
I blame some of this on Riot. There is no way to identify the shotcaller, maybe identify someones win/loss, number of honors, and then give their text color a different color or something to make it obvious that "Hey, this guy knows what he's talking about and if you listen, this game will go much smoother"
I don't typically get a ton of reply on Boards, but this is a big, BIG deal. I'm not blaming my team mates, but we CAN fix this. Please reply if you can.
