I really hate Kayle's new gameplay design

It's not fun to dumpster a Kayle into the ground, then she gets to level 6 or 11 or whatever random checkpoint they need and they literally are given the ability to 1v9 for free. The character is too overloaded, and with items its straight up unfair. Scaling in this game should be decided by good play and decision making, all Kayle needs to do is auto minions and get levels and she shreds the enemy team with her invulnerability and guinsoos.

And to think, I once thought that Akali was the most annoying champ in the game.

She hits her power spikes much earlier than pre-rework. Before she used to start hitting critical mass around three items. Now she starts getting out of hand as soon as she completes her first item, regardless of how bad she started out.

I mean Kayle has always been like that. Mixed damage, dual range late game hypercarry is pretty much her niche.

So... tell me what is different from old kayle again? What you said applies to both versions of kayle. It's almost like a hyperscaling champion will eventually get to a point where they outscale the vast majority of the roster or something.

new kayle is basically ranged udyr without stun

You can shut down these champions as much as possible, but they'll still 1v9 once they get their 3rd item.

Dude, every time they release a new champ they make it more broken than the last, it's actually insane Camille > Xayah > Zoe > Kaisa > Irelia > Aatrox > Akali > Kayle

Azir, Kog Maw, Jinx, Cassio, and Yi all do the same thing.

You have 11 levels worth of time to either shit on her, or impact the map while shes useless. That's the way late-scaling champions work. It's all about good play and decision making.

If you simply sit in lane playing farmville, yeah, she will probably rip you a new one.

I think they should just have made her a hybrid markman / enchanter. Marksman scale into late game. Did anyone really like the fact that Kayle was forced to be melee sometimes? No, her old identity was basically like a ranged, more enchanter focused variant of tryndamere. I don't think she needed that extra hand holding late game, nor the early game nerf to compensate. I didn't really love the old Kayle and I am glad they wanted to rework her. I got mastery 7 with old Kayle and actually liked how she was able to harass and control lane in certain matchups (vs melees). Late game was not as pubstompy as people made it out to be, she was an immobile squishy markman still. But you could easily fall back to her enchanter playstyle, especially if you built AP. Not to say this is absent from her rework, but she seems much more pidgeonholed to a carry now (why else would you trudge through those first 5-10 levels?)

Riot felt like some champs need to exist that put timers on the game so if you are playing against them you have to win early or else. So if you get an early lead, you have to use it to snowball other lanes ASAP. If you are just staying in lane but not pushing down towers, getting rift herald, TPing bot, frankly the fault is on you for not taking advantage of the situation. That's basically what you have to do against late game champs: you have to win or effectively win before they can become relevant.

You see this concept applied in MtG as well: it's called inevitability there. It means if you don't win fast, you are going to lose.

So I think you need to start considering how to win the game ASAP when playing against certain champs.

Reduce her attack speed growth.

Kayle is really annoying if you have to get on top of her, but if you fight one, just make sure you have a range mage who can poke her from afar.

What I'd like to know is why they gave Kayle's ult a bursting damage effect. Her ult was fine before without the damage, now her ult is just overloaded. Invulnerability for a good amount of time followed by a burst of damage with scary scaling in a large area. Why?

GripaAviara4/15/2019, 8:25:31 PM1 votes

This "too weak early, beast late" is a bullsht design.

When you artificially add a "time counter" is not fun. The game is about team play. Having a dead hand early and a solo juggernaut later is against the core of this game.

I get having a weaker early game and better late game, but no way along those lines should a champion be either useless for the team or 1v5 beast

Esudesu4/14/2019, 7:29:51 PM1 votes

They just need to give her more defined item powerspikes instead of level powerspikes. New Kayle does the same stuff old Kayle did, just comes online faster.

Remove her % HEALTH dmg on a TARGETED ABILITY and i guarantee you she well be far less op.
