obscurity technically can work, it simply does not work on a kit with mobility and burst. It is more of a certainlyt problem than a balance team problem, ct does not understand what goes into a healthy moba champion and creates kits that the balance team simply cannot balance.
Removing obscurity is one option but they might as well just revert the rework since the old kit works better with obscurity than the new one does.
I see zero logic as to why it's there in the first place
by design, the only benefit of having it give invis under a turret, is to enable akali to harass her opponent under their own turret. So it's just a win-more button that makes an oppressive situation, even more oppressive.

Removing true stealth would solve so many issues. I don't even know why it was introduced.
When I started playing League, I fell in love with little counter-mechanics like placing a pink in her shroud. She used to drop Zhonyas after to buy time for her team etc. It just encouraged a nice series of plays.
Especially now that control wards are limited to two per buy, it shouldn't be an issue to bring this form of counterplay back.
They've said about half the balance team thinks true invisibility should be removed, and the half is looking for alternatives to balance her shroud (they're currently testing longer time to go in and out of stealth, letting targeted abilities finish even if she goes back into stealth, and adding a visual shimmer that lets you know where she is when she first goes into stealth) I'm definitely in the camp that thinks they should just remove it and make her targetable by turrets then give her compensation buffs elsewhere, but I can understand the viewpoint of the people that want to keep it.

Stealth itself is not somthing that should be in any competative game. It's frustrating to play aginst and is hands down always op in certain situations. When sweeper worked on stealth it was balanced, you had to choose between vision for your team, vision denial or revealing around yourself in a fight. It's not fun to be chasing a 5 hp rengar or twich that make it into stealth last second or have them 100-0 you when your given no way to defend youraelf. Akalis is by far just toxic, it cancels spells and autos and works under turrets......
Here's the thing- her win rate sucks, and that is with the purportedly broken mechanic of true stealth on her side. Removing that from her kit would be liable to drop her from 43% to <40%, which is an unacceptably low win rate for any champion to be left at. What would that mean? Buffing her in other places, or reworking her again. What with all the bitching and moaning about her damage now, I can't see the former going over well, and if they reworked her again, the community would lose its collective shit because they didn't do X older, underserved champion first.
It's not really as easy as everyone's very reductive argument makes it seem.
They gave a few champions true stealth at one point. Forgot which ones though since they kinda got fucked up with true stealth to some and Camouflage with others. Then decided it was too strong and took that mechanic out of the game, because there was no counter to that, but decided to say fuck it and give it to akali.
