Now I'm no Galio main, but I found something that might help.

Galio, as about 3 people are aware, is a champion.

"A champion!?" you ask.

Yes. He exists.

Now, I could call myself a Galio main (as I have raked in approximately 1 game as Galio support in a normal blind pick - we lost), but I would prefer to take the modest approach and claim Galio aficionado. Now to the meatAlistar of the post: what do I think could help Galio?

Well for starters: a rework. But let's not go there, because for all we know a rework is on its way, or coming in 2019.

So as one thing that could help quite a bit: make his auto attacks ranged. He can be such a pain in the butt to try to last hit, and I end up having to waste mana on my W any time I want to last hit a minion, just in case the opposing laner wants to trade. It really doesn't feel beneficial to have to use an ability every time I want to last hit. Sure, his waveclear is great, but at level 4 when you're just on the brink of being able to full clear a wave, but the enemy pantheon can now deal tons of damageitem 3078 I don't WANT to have to auto 4 minions and waste mana on my W just to do it.

"But SPARKKY, it wouldn't fit THEMATICALLY".

Bite meChogath

Heimerdinger has an infinite number of wrenches he can throw at people, when he's a genius inventor that could just build a god damn gun.

I understand making a champion start to deal ranged attacks instead of melee could be hard to do (or easy, I really have no idea), but it would sure take a lot less time than a full blown rework, and it might give him some more power in solo lanes.

Hell, he might even see some play.

I'm a galio main and I personally think he's okay. He's not really a good blind pick champ because you could end up against an AD champ, meaning your passive is now nearly useless. However, in ranked you can ban zed and roll mid with galio and 95ish% of the time you'll be against an ap mid (at least I usually am).

I rarely use my w for cs'ing. You have to rush mana regen on this guy. Often I'll straight up start with mantle and just safe farm with q and SOME auto attacks until I have 550 to finish chalice. This makes lane phase 10x easier and I often out cs my opponents. Just don't use q too often to poke because they start reading it and it's so easy to dodge if you just throw em out all the time. But after your mana is sustainable you can dominate most of the time.

TL;DR he's a super strong champ if you play right and don't get counter picked. I think he's perfectly fine where he's at.

i agree however

they could remove the damn cast time on his E

And remove his having to be rooted while casting it

True, very fair points.

On the other hand though, Galio sees almost no play across the board for a reason - if you love playing him, he's a great champ, and you can be really strong. But other than "The other team has a Leblanc, let's play Galio and spam laugh the whole game", he really doesn't give much incentive to play, because he takes so much skill (not mechanics-wise, but in knowing how to play) to use.

You have tons of experience with him, so you can say "Oh yeah just do this, this, and this and it's a free lane", but for people who aren't so experienced, there's very little reason to play him after 1 or 2 matches, solely based on how hard CSing/Not dying in laning phase, and being able to farm up without pushing the whole wave.

I just feel like adding a ranged AA would make his laning phase significantly more interesting (as it would be more than stack mana, and hit W when they try to trade/nail them with a Q when they back out - every time you try to CS).

Keep in mind that this change is mostly for people who haven't mastered Galio, and I don't think it would be adding TOO much power to his kit, whilst giving him more poke/CS options in lane.

Ya I don't know, I think the melee aa keeps him balanced. I can't imagine losing lane if I had an extra poking tool to trigger thunderlords. I think they'd have to nerf something on him if they did that cuz he's already borderline op.

But I hear what you're saying with first time galio players. It's kind of a turn off and I remember not expecting a melee aa on him at all. Almost made me stop playing him but then you learn how to play around it

He is a little borderline OP, isn't he? I suppose they probably would have to nerf something else, and that wouldn't really be right.

True though, when I was playing him the first time, I went to last hit - I walked straight into the enemy before realizing that it was a melee AA. Haha

Play him with a Kalista, and have a Yas on you team. You are welcome.

Lmao yes! Just last night I tried him support cuz we had kali adc. The ult combo is so nasty. Also have a friend who plays tahm and I get in his belly for that long distance travel into ult. So many great combos for galio ult.

Galio's pretty much fine as-is, you just pick him to stock up on Brand, LeBlanc and Lux tears.

Wouldn't he lose his scaling resistances if he was ranged?

Du Ma Mi1 votes

Wouldn't have to; instead of giving him adc range, just make it like: 450 range, or 475 - just give him a little extra to help him out, without forcing it to be a key part of his kit.
