Should Urgot's old ultimate (Swap Positions) ever return in some shape or form?

Urgot's old ultimate, while impossible to balance with his old kit, was still unique in that it let you swap positions with an enemy. It might not have fit his long-range AD-caster gameplay back then, but one has to wonder if the mechanics to that ult could be used on a future Champion design. Maybe on a diver or something like that.

Could we eventually see a Position Swapper again? Or has that become a toxic mechanic in League's playbook?

The closest we are gonna get is his dash probably.

Riot has said that they liked his old ult, but just felt it didn't belong on Urgot. So I think there is a pretty good chance we'll see a new champion with a similar ability.

The thing about his old ult is that it was too weird, and didn't have a lot of practicality. I mean, as Urgot, it sorta worked if he was misplacing them so he could put them under a turret or something and shoot at them, or dump them into his team, but that's the extent of it's usefulness (outside of the suppression). He really didn't benefit from putting himself into an enemy team, even with the fear, because he'd be setting himself up to be surrounded.

On a melee, it would get a little more awkward, because if he swapped someone, they'd have to then close the gap to continue to melee them, or it would allow them to escape if he couldn't catch them after ulting. And you'd also not want to use it to get into or out of a team fight, because that would just be a gigantic target on where the enemy team needs to aim their skill shots since it wasn't an instant cast.

So I'm not sure of the practicality of it going forward. It's not a toxic mechanic by a long shot, but it's just an awkward, impractical one.

Sure we could just not on a squishy champion. Some CC oriented Tank would be the best contender imo.

It's his current E, not W.

Unless it also includes swapping with ally, too, otherwise it's not going to go too hot.

The problem with old Urgot's ability is that it almost guarantees a win in 1v1, but otherwise as soon as the fight is between more than 2 people it's mostly just a button to int in most skirmishes and teamfights; which together made it really hard to balance.

But if it can also go with ally, or hell, if it can ONLY swap with allies, then it'd be much better to balance I'd feel.

I feel like swapping places with an ally gives too much power to a soloq player. They can screw up fights and skirmishes or just troll. I like the idea and it would work great in a communicative team but when you have no way to speak or really interact much with your team I don't really like the outcomes of the scenario.

I had the weird idea of a Leblanc rework where her empowered ult chain would allow you to switch with the target if you rooted them. I figured being a squishy champ would balance it out, but now I see there might not be enough opportunities for it to be good, plus it would be annoying combined with Distortion. I would have to take her other abilities into consideration. Ah, but wait! This is about a brand new champ with this ability. In that case, you could give it to a tanky aoe melee champ with another gap closer for 1v1/laning situations. Maybe include some abilities similar to Leona E and Lissandra W with a shield after swapping position. Not sure what passive and Q would be. Hmm, I have lots of ideas for champ concepts actually. I'll make a post about them eventually.

i can definitely see it being a normal skill. Basically like no charge time but like swap positions and provide true stealth to the swapper. Would be a neat support skill imo. Would work well in a low medium ranged kit with high mobility or cc. It would be cool to do damage upon swapping but the damage wouldnt be large enough to hit the swapped target. More of a swap the enemy support to hit the adc or vice a versa skill.
