From what I understand, these are occurring because she's able to be played mid with it, and nerfing her W will pigeonhole her back in to being a support, because champs between mid and support having one role is a good thing.
Meanwhile, 
Why not just nerf her support capabilities and buff her in the midlane? If we've got so many midlaners coming over to support after all.
Well morg has been one of the most balanced and fair supports in the game for a very long time whereas morg mid has been hard to balance since it is very unfun to lane against and shuts down a lot of champions in mid. So it makes no sense to have be balanced around mid since balancing her around support works much better and it doesn't matter if it is less fun to play there are lots of things more fun to play but should not be balanced around since it is bad for the game.
Also mid has been morgana's main role for a long time so a lot of supports and players who never seen when morg mid was the main role would not be happy with her going back to mid.
Her kit has so many powerful tools why does she get great waveclear too ? Every Champion needs to have downsides
Yeah that's why I'm saying to nerf her support oriented abilities a little bit.

Her AP ratios are still ridiculous for the input needed to achieve damage. She outdamages adcs with only support items. She's basically ungankable, Q lasts forever, shuts down initiation of any kind. She's almost perma banned from me unless I'm playing her. On top of that she's easy to play.
I think they're targeting her kid because that's where she's overperforming, not because she's playable there. She's been playable mid for a long time, and the new move-speed on her ult is obviously good when you have 30 flat pen and do 650 damage with each part of your ult.
I dont think people understand how boring it is to watch Morgana walk up with E just to push W on a wave and clear it instantly. Meanwhile go roam to some other lane and be back in time for the next wave. After this, Morgana obtains the ability to kill anyone barring a tank with just Q W and the only way you survive is QSS. The entirety of it is uninteractive and also unfun for everyone around.
