Garen's spun his way into top lane dominance as of late, and Q's early game damage leaves opponents with few opportunities to trade well. Q - Decisive Strike BASE DAMAGE 30/65/100/135/170 ⇒ 30/60/90/120/150

So you admit you the problem is his early game damage but nerf the Q damage at later ranks when laning phase is over?

the entire point of his passive is that he can weather his meh early game which is CHEESY at best with an occasional Q and run away. the better thing to do here would be to reduce some of his defensive options. I dont mind Garen doing high amounts of Phys damage. What I DO mind is him being unkillable while he does it along with his bullshit Villain system.

no, his passive is horrible in early game and he needs lvl 11 for it to really kick in. The regen you're noticing is usually D.shield (or triple beads) + Second Wind healing him up between trades.

Garen's strength right now is the fact that this game being so snowbally, on top of the meta being very squishy AND short range (e.g hardly anyone can peel or kite him because there's barely any tanks and not a lot of mages) means he will always have Villain in range to pull himself back into the game and very little CC to stop him from doing it. He's basically never irrelevant and that's what makes him stand out in current meta.

I don't remember his name, but the person I base my Garen build off of as a one trick in Masters maxes it first every game because W just super pushes the lane and is fairly easy to counter play as mobile champs. Q is much harder to counter play and doesn't push the lane. Hell he even got me to build item 1006 item 2003 in my worst match ups and it does wonders if you just regen and farm until your W gets to solid stats and you outscale your lane opponent.

Yes. And actually that video taught me a lot and how to make Garen scale because he can actually be a monster mid-late game if you build him right. I always knew the season 3 Garen Q E and just wreck your opponent. So being taught that there is a better way to play him was eye opening for me.
