rocket jump needs a nerf

Why can rocket jump be used while rooted and yet many teleports cant even be used while rooted? Tristana already has very long range and her jump is also long ranged, there's no reason it should be immune to roots too.

  1. Not a teleport, it's a dash.
  2. Roots prevent movement, they don't interrupt it. To interrupt you need a new movement, like a grab or knockup.
  3. Summoner Spell Teleport makes you move at the end, so if you're rooted you will be unable to complete it
  4. Tris's jump has a casting time anyway, so if you displace her (thus interrupting movement) while she's in her casting time, she'll overwrite your displacement once she finishes it and will start jumping as normal.

1: I was referring to how even teleports (blinks) which should be immune to most movement impairing effects usually arent immune to root. 2: agreed 3: not relevant, it's obvious i didnt mean teleport since i said teleports which is what most people know that blinks are 4: her jump is movement, if it has a cast time and she is rooted before she leaves the ground it only makes sense for her movement to be stopped which means her jump should be interrupted

They are NOT immune to anything. Root prevents you form moving, doesn't matter if it's to the next unit or to one that's at 1000 from you.

And people call blinks, teleport is summoner teleport.

And YES, if she's still rooted when the jump is supposed to start it WILL NOT start. I talked about displacements.

that is the issue... it is coded as a CAST time.. not a channel time. sloppy coding error. same for Ezreal arcane shift.. also coded as a cast time instead of channel time.

riot has just decided to leave it as is.

Shit like this is why LoL has a bad reputation for buggy gameplay. It makes no sense to have those two skills have an uninterruptable cast time. Arcane shift is a magical blink, make it instant ffs, rocket jump clearly would require some time to setup so give it an interruptable channel time. Theres no reason such a powerful skill should grant cc immunity, especially on the champion with the longest aa range.

It's not a "sloppy coding error". They were made that way on purpose.

What sense does that make?

No, it was LEFT that way on purpose... for reasons i cannot fathom..

  1. Literally everything except some ults and shit is casted, not channeled.
  2. They are supposed to be safe ADCs that have a way to outplay grabs

If she is rooted then she can't use it. But if she already cast the ability then gets rooted, she will still jump.

JarodDempsey1 votes

Thats no excuse, her ability should have a cast time (if it doesn't) and during the casting it should be able to be interrupted by roots since it is a jump (dash).

It actually is an excuse. You just don't like it lol.

Then by that logic then skills like lissandras ult should go off regardless of any cc that hits her as soon as she casts it, theres no sense in limiting one but not the other.

HudnofskiBleh1 votes

I just said it was an excuse you didn't like, not a good one lol.

I personally think it should stay the same, because she's already at a 46% win rate. And if Lissandra's anything to go by, she would be in an even worse state if she got a nerf causing her moves to be cancelled. (Liss sits at a 43% winrate) Tristana isn't very good this season so nerfs would hurt an already hurting champion.

Movement abilities once fully cast can't be stopped by roots. Only displacements will stop them from going the full distance.

We aren't talking about during her jump, just immidiately before she leaves the ground. The cast time should be changed to a channel time so shes not immune to cc.

Lol no.

I've done some more reading and it looks like shes basically immune to cc if it strikes her during the ability cast window. This is backwards when considering that since shes still on the ground she should be most susceptible to cc compared to when shes high in the air. If riot changes her jump so that it is rightfully stopped when she is cc'd before she leaves the ground then the ability will be much more reasonable.

Immune to DISPLACEMENTS, not CC in general, and not immune, overwriting. It's just that any movement overwrites previous movements. You're walking? Blitz grab pulls you. You're dashing, including Tris's jump? Blitz grab pulls you. You are doing a cast time? Blitz grab pulls you and the casting time goes on. The thing that happens at the end of the cast is movement itself? The pull gets interrupted by the new movement.

So if Tris is grabbed mid dash, pull overwrites dash; if she's grabbed pre-dash but while the dash is already inputted, dash overwrites pull. TL;DR: you got outmicro'd.

Ok sure but why1 votes

Yet when Trist rocket-jumps to the side, Warwick can ult your original position a second later and teleport you back to where you were

you wanna nerf a champ with a 46.92% win rate and her w ability which has a 22 second cooldown ?

if anything she needs alot of help

JarodDempsey1 votes

None of you have presented a valid argument to the main problem. The only explanation trist has is that the game is coded so that movement actions can interrupt other actions even if they physically make no sense. Guess some champs have all the luck with poor coding. Also, having a bad winrate is not a defence for making use of a faulty mechanic.
