What I Liked and What I Disliked on the Shaco Rework pt. 1 - The Good

DISCLAIMER: Played in other accounts. On this one I only have 1 custom game, so don't bring that "I op.gg'ed your ass, only custom game lolz busted" argument. I've tested the New Shaco in about 10 games.

So, it finnally has hit live and the end is uppon us. Shaco received some pretty harsh changes and was, overall, nerfed. But let's be honest, some things were actually nice. Point by point:

The good:

  • The longer Q duration late game is cool; it allows for that extra second waiting for the smite steal, the "just a little bit closer" moment when the ADC decides to randomly walk away, and ultimately for the "fuck fuck fuck I gotta get the FUCK out of here" moments.

  • The Q CD Nerf. Ok controversial point. 14 seconds of CD instead of 11, right? But it also has a 2.5 seconds reduction if you use the empowered Q. "But that still leaves it at 11.5! It's a nurfff!!1" Ok, Volibear with me for a second. CDR works with the ability CD, reducing a % of it, right? Now, what happens when the CD is bigger? You guessed it! The CD reduced from it is also bigger. So, at 45% CDR, you will shave a hefty 6.3 seconds out of it, leaving it at a 7,7s CD. "But wait! The old CD would get lower! It would reach 6s!1! You lie coz you lick Riot's chinese owned ass!" You forget one very interesting thing, my young padawan: the 2,5 reduction from Q. The CDR doesn't take that in consideration, so the CD, if you attack someone (What are you? A pussy? Of course you're attacking someone!) gets down to a nice 5,2 seconds CD. Less time for the to kill you! More time for you to reposition to achieve that ruined, ohh fuck, I'm not bashing it yet sweet backstab!

  • Your clone has it's own backstab timer. Imagine the following scenario: you find a lonely ADC. You Q behind him, pop your ult and double crit his ass. He's low now. You E him. He takes a crap load of damage with the execute + thunderlord and die. Well, kinda, but this is a topic for later. For now, let's be happy because the double Crit is pretty nice, as the Old Shaco's clone would not benefit from the Q's Crit.

  • Your clone won't stand still after you die (as often). This is pretty cool and MUCH less frustrating. Most of the times I've raged playing Shaco was when I'd engage an enemy, they'd focus the wrong one (aka Me. They should focus the clone, goddammit!!) and I die. They walk away with 30 hp left. My clone stands still for another 15 seconds doing it's iddle animation while I spam my level 7 Mastery icon. Now things have changed1 Wanna kill me? Well, you gonna have to face my Tibbers Lite Beta (aka Clone) who will briskly walks towards you and if possible Auto Attack you to death. Maybe. But he will at least try!

Well, that concludes this part of my long ass rant about the Shaco rework. Stay tunned for the second part coming soon: The Bad.

Seriously, if you wanna see the second take ocasional looks at this post as I'll link it here.
