Masterwork Armor

All completed items with MR or Armor on them have their total cost (and final combine cost) increased by 250 gold (or somewhere in that ballpark). In exchange, each item gives an additional X points (a balanced number, for instance 12) of the respective resistance. For items giving both resistance types, get X/2 of each resistance.


A rune that lets people bend the rules regarding defensive item slot efficiency a bit (which is why I could see it in Inspiration). Essentially, it would allow their users to translate a higher amount of their gold into defensive stats - allowing them to be more tanky in the lategame. The trade-off is, like with the other scaling runes, the lack of early-game power, as the benefit only comes in when completing a whole item (that is more expensive to complete as well).

Numbers are obviously something that needs to be subject to balance.

Example:

item 3068:

Without this rune, Sunfire Cape has 60 Armor, 425 HP and its passive for 2750 gold. With the ballpark values above, Sunfire Cape would give 72 Armor, 425 HP and its passive at a price of 3000 gold total.

The answer is not in runes. The answer is in toning down damage overall.

Why would you waste more gold on a redundant stat such as armor when most of their item efficiencies are already terrible, also considering the only value those items have once the enemy decides to counter everything you've built with their %penetration items is their passive effects . For tartarus sake lord domoniks regards is cost effective against 88 armor targets, its literally effective against a zeds base armor when hes level 18 (as well as tanks and bruisers who get >100 base at LV18).

Like mandarill said damage needs be nerfed or pen items should only be cost efficient against stacked defenses.

If they want to help tanks revert overgrowth, literally what squishie started using it since it was nerfed altered.

If from 60 it went to 80 i would pick it but then again when you know that Vayne exsists....

that would be shitty if i have to give up a rune just to not insta die. but that being said id pick this rune on every fighter and tank i play.

I have a better idea, remove the current rune system and keystones, then bring back masteries. Then defense can actually scale again and everyone will no longer get so much damage for free.

Would be simpler to delete runes completely and just stay with stat-shards.

Would also be better for balancing this game.
