I honestly wish they would just take the surrender button out of the game

Or at least make it require a unanimous vote. But then I'd still have the problem of like 2 teammates every game saying "ff, just surrender, it's over" ALL GAME LONG after they get their first death at like 5 minutes.

This is really almost every game. Stop giving up and just play the game, jeez.

Honestly, what benefit does it bring to the game? It just adds another loss condition to your team and makes people give up long before they should.

I know it's not just me who is sick of this or has this problem. Hell, one time I was watching Faker's stream and from my perspective watching him, it seemed like the game was going pretty well for him. Then his nexus randomly explodes... and he just had this "What the hell? We could have won that" reaction, the same reaction I've had so many times when my team surrenders prematurely.

Who knows? You might. You definitely won't if you don't try.

Good idea. Would force everyone to try their best.

Sometimes it's better to just surrender than wait out the next 10-25 minutes in a losing game. Like when your team gets aced in the first teamfight, their ADC is 6/0 before 10 minutes, you've got 2 inhibs down and haven't taken a single turret, etc.

I agree with you, though. I used to be the kind to give up after losing first blood to their assassin, but after playing with some friends I've won lots of games after early upsets like that. People just need to try extra hard to come back and build for their current position.

You're thinking about it all wrong. You're not "waiting it out", like you're waiting to lose. That means you've already given up, it's a defeatist attitude. You should be farming, looking for plays, turtling, if you stall out and waveclear long enough all of their early advantage will be lost and it will be an even playing field! Look for baron or dragon steals, or for people out of position. Teams throw A LOT.

If your team gets aced the first teamfight, maybe you shouldn't teamfight just yet, just work on stalling. Or maybe it was just a really bad engage and the next one can go better. If their ADC is 6/0, focus them and cc them. If you've got two inhibs down, WAVE CLEAR and soak up all the juicy gold and experience you get from super minions. Swap lane assignments, at least TRY different things before declaring it won't work. Not one of those things warrants surrender... In fact in my opinion surrendering is rarely ever excusable.

I've only watched 3 LCS games so far this season. By chance, in every one I happened to watch, the game went over 60 minutes and in each one the team that was losing for more than half the game managed to come back and win.

TL;DR: Rather than just waiting to lose, look for ways to come back. If you get good at it you can bring back a lot of games where your team falls behind, it just requires the right attitude.

I agree with everything you said, I think what really drives people though is the race to LP. People are so set on gaining LP for promotion, I think they look past actually playing the game and learning from it. I wish they did the ranks in a different way so that the LP wasn't all that mattered to people.

What I meant by this is that there are conditions when a game is irreversibly lost. Your team gets aced in the first teamfight, boom you just lost two towers in whatever lane you were in, and they might even push all the way to inhib with that time. Possible to come back from, but extremely unlikely. You've got two inhibs down and you haven't taken a turret? Well great, now you need at least 3 people constantly killing super minions and the other two can't fight without being overwhelmed and dying, allowing the enemy team to get baron, dragon, the other lane, etc. There are also games where you get behind early, and have a team of champs that fall off late or need to be fed to be good (assassins, etc). So if you haven't won by 30-40 minutes, you're just wasting your time stalling. Point is, these situations do happen where it's surrender now or lose later.

What I was trying to say at the end though is that the situation is often misdiagnosed as a surrender time, when most games I win I come back from an early upset. IE losing first blood/double kill bot isn't a lost game, especially if you have a better late game team, or you can itemize well against the fed enemies (learning to build armor/mr when you need it is important).

TL;DR: You wot

Same tbh I hate surrendering only time I will usually try to surrender is if Im lagging or if my friends are tired of a game andwant to surrender but even then they rarely try to surrender. Ive seen games where top lane is trying to ff cause he died 3 times as a malph against like a teemo or something and will just play with a negative attitude all game and play poorly because he thinks the game is unwinnable anyway. And honestly these types of people make me more annoyed than any person that flames the team. Because at least the flamer is just too passionate about the game and trying to win.

The thing I don't get is why not try?

Like in norms, sure it's not fun but your there to practice or goof off and have fun right? So what does the length of a game really matter if it's a loss anyway?

In ranked, why would you not give yourself every chance to win?

I mean I'm not saying I never vote, or that every game is winnable or any of that, but when it matters why not try? Personally I vote based on observed player skill not the score, but I don't know the surrending at fb every game just seems like it's a product of the instant gratification culture or participation trophies. And it's like every game, I get that the meta sucks and the snowball mechanics are ruining the game, but it's like nobody every played from behind before or made a comeback or held out to scale or anything.
