1v1 - Broken down to why we need it and how it should be set up

1v1 is the one thing I really want to be added to League, nor do I understand why it isn't added to League. So I'm going to try to get some attention to this subject, break it down to why it would be a great asset to League, and hopefully get some Riot insight as to why it isn't added.

Why do we need ranked 1v1's? Multiple reasons:

  • You can test your independent skill
  • You can take a break from having to deal with a toxic team
  • You can practice a certain champion without have to stay in a 40 minute game to do so
  • Competitive teams can better find out who's better than who by looking at their 1v1 rankings (support being exempted obviously)
  • Can be played when you don't have time to play a normal game, and if anything ever comes up you don't have to worry about ruining other player's games
  • You can try a new champ that you bought without ruining the experience of other players
  • It's fun

Now to break these down separately

"You can test your independent skill" Being able to test your independent skill in my opinion is really important. it can help determine which areas you need to improve on when it comes to champion mechanics and knowledge.

"You can take a break from having to deal with a toxic team" I feel like this is an influential one. Riot has done a great job with the community, and I don't see that much toxicity in games, however sometimes it's nice to be able to queue up for a game and not have to worry about it.

"You can practice a certain champion without have to stay in a 40 minute game to do so" This is more aimed towards people who want to climb ranked more. If I wanted to learn how to play Yasuo really well, I can practice him in 10-15 minute games instead of 20-40 minute games. This can be extremely efficient and help players who have trouble learning a champ get better at league.

"Competitive teams can better find out who's better than who by looking at their 1v1 rankings (support being exempted obviously)" This a good one for the competitive scene. While League is about 5% luck (if not less), it's nice to see a person's actual skill. Especially in the Challenger rankings, one guy could be better than the other, but the one guy just got bad teams recently and fell below, making him seem worse than what he actually is. With 1v1 rankings however, teams can determine who is better because the only fault for losing is yourself.

"Can be played when you don't have time to play a normal game, and if anything ever comes up you don't have to worry about ruining other player's games" This is a fantastic one for me. There are times when I really want to play a game of League but I don't think I have enough time. It would be amazing if I could just join a game where it didn't affect anyone if I left (if anything it would make someone happier).

"You can try a new champ that you bought without ruining the experience of other players" Sometimes when I try a new difficult champion like Draven, it is annoying to play your first game and feed. Teammates will get salty and flame at you, when all you want to do is get good at him. I can say this for champions such as Azir. I really wanted to get good at Azir, but it was too much of a hassle to practice when I would only get flamed if I didn't do well. I could do bots but they are too easy; I can't do players because at times they can be difficult, thus resulting in players getting angry and flaming me; and I can't practice in a custom because there is nothing to practice. It would be great to just be matched without one person, and no teammates to harass me when I'm trying to learn something new. Adding to the fact that a mechanic heavy champion like Azir would be more beneficial just hammering down his mechanics first before playing an actual game with him.

" It's fun" This is the most important part. I realize games like URF you want to keep once a year because you don't want people getting bored of it, and in general it's a great business move; but I feel like there are more pros than cons than keeping a Snowdown showdown permanently. You don't have to deal with toxic teammates; you don't have to worry about AFK, Feeders, and Trolls; and you can practice to your hearts content.

Now to break down why ranked 1v1's may be an unappealing idea:

  • It may take away from Summoner's Rift
  • Getting a ranked border would be to easy

"It may take away from Summoner's Rift" While it may take away players from Summoner's Rift at first; being a new gamemode, I feel like it wouldn't completely dominate the gamemode itself. People would mostly playing this as listed above, they would either lack time or want to practice a champion.

"Getting a ranked border would be to easy" I have thought about this, and decided that 1v1 ranked should look and appear differently than normal ranked. Let me explain:

I propose 1v1 ranked work similiar to the Champion mastery. The higher up in the rankings you are, the more specialized ribbon in the loading screen you get. It could go something like this (these ideas are not what I want them to be, they are only an example, Riot may not want to use the same rankings as normal ranked):

For every game won the same you would for a normal ranked game (minus the maxing at 100)

Bronze 0-100 Silver 101-150 Gold 151-250 Platinum 251-400 Diamond 401-600 Master 601-850 Challenger 851+

These ribbons to appear to the upper right side of the champion border. Displaying their personal skill.

I believe I covered everything I wanted. If anyone has any feedback please tell me. This is something I truly want added to the game and any feedback or improvements possible to this would be amazing. Maybe Riot can see this and I can leave my own mark on the Summoner's Rift?

being good in 1v1 is different than being good in a team.

LoL is a team-based game. Not every champion is a duelist. That's why a 1v1 would be pointless.

That being said, I think a 2v2 map should be added.

Sadly your whole arfument is pointless since 1v1 == skill.

This is a teamgame for a reason and theres much more to it than lane 1v1 mechanics, that also even if, could only be useful for mid/top

i would like to say that every 1 saying that 1v1 is pointless and that its a team game so it dosent matter, is completely stupid and ignorant for saying that when everybody all starts 1v1 in lane except for the bot lane and jg can choose weather he wants invade or not solo or with team so 1v1 is probably the most crucial part of the game trying to win lane get fed and give your team a big advantage and be able to roam and help others.

the people that say this stupid comment are usually the ones that he no individual skill and rely on team to carry them yet not ever really contributing to team success unless they are constantly being helped or assisted from start to finish. Its as ignorant as saying soccer is a team game there for being able to beat someone 1v1 like a keeper or defender for say to score a goal like every player in the world needs to do is useless lmao when perfect examples are messi Ronald or league relevance faker or smeb who can get fed can win 1v1 or even up to 3v1 because of there individual skill in situations when ur team isnt there to save u or to help you, these key moments in any team game league of any sport are crucial and often end up deciding which team wins, because at the end of the day a team is full of individuals that need to be the best they can individually before they can be a good team or should i rephrase successful team.

for example i need to be good at soccer to be able to do my job in the team i cant just join team and get put some random position and magically win due to team work especially if the other team is more skillful individually and are playing better as a team as a result of there skill level, yes its possible to win if there aren't and are to busy trying to show off and not playing as a team and only worry about there individual results. but thats very rare when one team is to individually skilled it usually leads to them snowballing but as i said sometimes they can through away the game due to ego so thats my point.if every 1 can practice get better in solo game 1v1 then they can improve there skill level there confidence in there ability's and focus on doing well for there team and win there lanes, its not for there own ego and trying get 500 kills in a match as every other person likes to view this situation

and the people that say this sort of balloni that team game so it doesnt matter are the same ones that will flame some one for losing top lane or mid lane due to someone no having good enough individual skill to hold there own or win lane before team fights or to beat or out play there opponent it would help minimize hashtag feeders as people like to label people that get beaten in lane when actually feeding is when u feed because your inting and dont care about team win or lose.

so please people think before u say ridiculous stuff a perfect example to nullify anyone trying ague back is would be get the best player in the world in a team vs a bunch of bronze 5 and they should be able to beat the best in world because individual skill dosent matter because its a team game sigh stupid logic people have in beaded in there mind makes me doubt humanity.

#individual skill is practically the foundation of any team or single player game or sport

as the old saying go's u have to be good to make the team. PAPA BLESS VAPE NATIONsummoner 4 summoner 6 summoner 14 summoner 11

We already had this. It was called Showdown, and it was on the Howling Abyss, either 1v1 or 2v2. Winning conditions were either a kill, 100 minion kills, or the outer turret destroyed. The thing is, it led to a lot of people picking fights in the other game modes. To quote verbatim every pissing contest:

"Ur a fkin shitter! Add me! I can kick your ass 1v1!"

Not to mention that not all champions are particularly good at farming... or dueling, and that's what Showdown was all about, really.
