Did the mid season help support feel better to play?

I have to ask because I can't answer this myself. I already played support and I don't really notice much change. Nobody from the community or from Riot has mentioned anything about it either aside from ancient coin kinda sucking.

I think overall mid season was bad on some tank supports, primarily because of malzahar.

I honestly thought that bot lane match up was heading in the "counterpicking wins" direction. now, not so sure anymore.

I'm torn with the shield spam. On one hand I'm glad that shields are finally actually useful outside absorbing one auto attack in lane and being borderline useless mid and late game, but on the other hand shields are the least interesting form of peel out there. I'd prefer more creative and potentially skill based peeling mechanics like Braum's shield and TK Hench's devour rather than just pressing all my shield keys.

Also the growth of mandatory support items sort of gimps expression. That's always been an issue, but Sightstone/Redemption/Locket cramming half my slots not including boots and my support item ain't bueno.
