Just what is Gragas?

Maybe just me and my own incompetence but what is Gragas? I he a tank? is he an assassin? Is he a god damn mage?

He has Burst, Sustain, CC, tankiness. I always believed he's a tank but he can also take electrocute and go mid build full ap and boom, he becomes somewhat of an assassin mage thing like Cho'Gath. I he's a tank why are hi ap ratios so high? If he's a damage dealer then why does he have such tanky base stats and a hit box larger than Summoner's Rift?

I am quite confused by this. And for those who might think I am trolling or something, no I am 100% serious with this.

he was a burst mage but was nerfed pretty damn hard (he was op) and people began playing him as a tank

He was an AP fighter/tank who got reworked into being a pure AP tank like Galio.

for something that's supposed to be a tank he deals distgusting damage. Maybe it'd just the lack of knowledge that I have or he straight up counters knew Akali. But he is disgusting to play against mid and even if he builds ap he is still quite tanky imo. Why can't riot balance tanks better? I think tanks should not deal any damage at all to champs or as little as possible

He just straight up counters Akali. She has a 44% win rate against him in lane and she has a 38% win rate by end of game. He deals a lot of AoE damage that ignores her stealth and his built in damage reduction makes him difficult for her to burst.

thank you very much for that information. Unfortunately I can't really ban Gragas because in my elo rarely anyone plays him mid so I don't think it's worth. Should I just try out roaming him?

Yes. Do you best to Q farm until 6 then roam bot for a double kill.

usually that gets me behind because the lanes aren't pushed up or the gank just won't happen because my teammates prefer to cs which is fine but means I waste time so I'm stuck in elo limbo as I like to call it everytime I try to be a good teammate I just die because I keep forgetting I don't play with people buit with bots who think they are people xd. And it's always better to let them die. At least from what I've seen :/

Predator Gragas is a nightmare. While Gragas’s single-target combo of W > Q1 > E > W auto > Q2 > R is already frighteningly powerful, Predator + Runic Echoes lets him just run up to a fight, press R, and half-health everyone within the blast radius.
