Is it possible that the new Viktor update has re-established Viktor's core identity?
Upon his initial release, Viktor was clunky, heavily item-dependant and considered by most of the community to be a low-quality pick. His laser was 'hard to hit' and his ult felt really weird and out of place.
Solcrushed screwed a LOT of that up by shifting the mechanics of his abilities around. Suddenly the laser felt crisp and wouldn't miss minions. Suddenly his auto attack wound up faster. As time passed, Vik EVEN started seeing play in the pro scene. Clearly this was not a part of VIk's core identity. Years passed, and nothing was done until a brave man stood up to say "NO MORE!"
Bursting onto the scene, RicklessAbandon postulated that the damage Solcrushed had done was NOT permanent. Indeed, he found that - through ingenuitive means - he could artificially implement new changes to simulate the old Viktor identity, whilst leaving the Solcrushed rework entirely intact.
Now that we can't hit his laser and there's strange delays between abilities, it feels like good ol' Season 3 Viktor again. Awkward, underappreciated, in need-of-tweaks, Viktor.
Way I see it, Ricklessabandon is just fixing what Solcrushed broke. Now if only we could get the delay on his shield back, it'd be perfect!
