What do you max first on Fizz now?
I used to max W, but that doesn't seem to be good now. I was never that big a fan of maxing E but that seems to be what most of the pros do now.

AP fizz mid; I've been doing....
w . e . q . w . w . R . e . e . e . e . R . w . w . q . q . R . q . q
(seriously)
I use E more for utility early on; dodge/escape, minion aggro drop
(I very much prefer W + Q openings... so E is my way out or all in)
You still have E maxed at level 10, only 1 level later. You don't need perfect waveclear that early or any really before 6.
W is more consistent damage on a single target, less cd reliant, more mana efficient.
In some matchups tho it might be hard to get the about 3 autos needed to make W comparable damage to E rank ups. They have too much kite and ranged maybe? It hasn't been a real issue for me though considering fizz's tools.
Doesn't maxing E just give you a huge mana cost on it?
Yeah but it reduces the CD.
E is
's primary source of waveclear, burst damage, mobility and utility rolled into one, which is why it's worth maxing first in spite of its mana cost increase, imo. A Fizz who maxes E first will have an easier time trading, clearing, tower diving and escaping ganks, whereas maxing Q or W first doesn't bring that much by comparison.
+50 damage, -2 s of CD, +5% slow and +10 mana per rank Compared to trident which is only +10 damage and +1% missing hp over the course of 5 seconds (non-stacking) and another 10 instantly
If you rank W you have to be able to stay engaged long enough to do 3-4 autos to outdamage your E. Not counting the execute cuz thats just wonky.
i still max w, but I jangle him, e lowers the cd and raises mana cost and damage, so good if you go fighter fizz, but assassin fizz still benefits early from the bonus damage of leveling w first
Trickster always trickster
