support mains should not be able to be autofilled
they actually do not know how to play any other role and they end up completely ruining games when they don't know how to compete with dedicated players who get their role.

Not true. I mained Morgana / Thresh up to this pre-season of S7. Used to main top in S5 and Draven / kog in S6. I recently made a point to learn Fiora and Zed. Been having a blast with Zed and have had much success lately. I can still play support, can play Draven, some top, and now mid. Not all supports are just "support only". I do prefer my Zed mid over my support now.

He isnt saying you only know how to play support, but when you are playing support 90% of your games, having to go top with your 10% expirience is no match for someone who plays top 60% of the time or higher.
Because support is a much less contested role, you are much more likely to get it over and over, meaning your area of expertise is much lower than someone who will often have to play all roles, thanks to autofill.
Still wrong. I get what he's saying, it's just a bad assumption. I can fill other roles, which I'm sure other supports can too. I guess you could also say the same about someone who mains another role trying to play mid, sup or whatever isn't their main role. Why don't they dodge? Why is it the supports having to catch the heat? I've seen people fill into support and do a horrible job. So it's not just supports as a whole. It's people who don't bother learning other roles as a backup.

Bullshit, you don't understand the point.
If you choose Support/Top for example, you will get support at least 90% of the time. You will get top maybe 9% of the time, and autofilled to another role the other 1%.
If you queue Mid/Jungle, you will get Mid maybe 60%, Jungle 30% and autofilled the last 10%.
His point was, a support getting autofilled mid is already at a huge disadvantage because they play that roll 59% less often than their opponent.
However, if I was mid/jg and got autofilled top, I would not be playing this role 1% of the time, I would have been autofilled more often than the support main would, therefor gaining experience in off-roles faster than the support mains.
The less you get autofilled, the bigger the disadvantage you are at when you do get autofilled. Since the frequency of support mains getting autofilled is MUCH MUCH lower than average, they are at a MUCH bigger disadvantage compared to other players, especially when you consider that it the most unique role with skills that don't really translate to other roles.
"they actually do not know how to play any other role and they end up completely ruining games when they don't know how to compete with dedicated players who get their role." Pretty sure I get the point. Didn't need your little essay to spell out the obvious. Says right there in the first sentence, "they do not know how to play any other role and end up completely ruining games." Again, not true. Will it be the best role? No. Do supports know how to play other roles? Yes. Do they completely ruin matches? No.

So you are saying that it is completely fair to match up someone who has played 2 games top this season against someone who has played 400 games top this season, not even including other seasons?
I agree entirely, the mechanics of mid laners and top laners are very similar, as is mid and adc positional requirements.
Supports and Jungles are the two unique roles that dedicated players would struggle to switch between, however Jungle players still primary deal damage so they can switch role much more comfortably than support mains.
Yeah exactly. As someone who plays jungle only, for the times that i don't get autofilled, laning is a lot different because you have to learn to PROPERLY CS/trade ect.
From basically all of my experiences in having support mains be autofilled, they do not know jungle pathing, they don't have a specific "Style" of play, and it almost seems like they have 0 carry potential.
It's not that i don't respect supports players, but i think that they should not be able to be autofilled because they get fucking smashed by dedicated junglers/top laners/mid laners ect.
I might want to blame the severely low skillcap that most support champions have, like Janna, for example, who have significant roles in teamfights from pressing a few buttons, but other roles you need to position properly, know how to peel with someone who isnt janna/nami, and play for the most part, mechanically harder champions.
This is true.
thank u
Exactly what I am saying.
It's honestly true. I only ever get my secondary like, 1/100 games. I have no idea how to play any other role than support.
i have a lot of respect for support players. They're very efficient in their role.
Its somewhat true. Most support players honestly are just bad. Ever since autofill was created, ive been seeing autofilled supports that main top/mid do better than most support mains.
Most support mains who end up getting mid, adc or top are going to do very bad. Because they usually sit bot lane harassing/supporting, not last hitting minions. They will also be by themselves in lane, have bad vision of where the enemy jungler might be, bad pathing and laning. They wont know what to do.
I main support. I can still carry a game as Nasus top, Veigar mid, MF bot. To play ranked you should be adept in at least three roles. Otherwise you're just a burden to the team.
If I get Jungle though, you're all screwed because I may as well be playing for the other team. xD
Supports DON'T get autofilled.
When's the last time anyone's queued as Support/X only to get placed in a role that isn't either Support or X?
Also because I tend to support as mages, I already know the mechanics of a fair number of mid laners.
