How bad would Lee Sin be if he lost ward hopping and what would he need for compensation?

Ralanr··92 votes·6,970 views

A lot of people want his ward hopping gone, and with Katarina losing the ability it seems like a possibility for Lee. But just how much would this screw Lee over and could it be replaced with something else?

He would actually take skill to play then, as he would need to hit his Q from range to get into ppl rather than ward hopping into melee range and making his whole kit point and click nukes.

He loses his versatility and the ability to do what few champs can't though: Hopping over walls. I think ward hops are just too crucial to his kit to be removed. If you remove ward hoping, then it becomes increasingly hard for him to actually get into the back line or make the plays that he was famous for. If you don't end the game within a certain amount of time, he'll just become even more useless late.

Good. I'm tired of his InSec bullshit. He wants to get to backline? Make him flank through normal points like everyone else.

JoeMG4 votes

...you do realize how many junglers and assassins have blinks/dashes/invisibility/wallhops that are just as if not more so capable of getting into the backline and 100-0 the squishies?

WoonStruck34 votes

...you do realize that Lee Sin has more versatility than pretty much all of them?

Langhof1 votes

Not totally true. Ekko has a dash/wall hop that is also a blink-to-enemy empowered auto, a slow zone/timed stun, a healing/do-over ult, a ranged slow that applies on hit effect. That's a bit of versatility if you ask me.

GayFluffyUnicorn27 votes

So one busted overloaded champ is worse than the other so both should keep their bullshit? Ekko is as bullshit as lee.

I feel like it's relevant to point out that removing the ward hop would lower his skill ceiling because of the lower mechanical execution required to play him at maximum effectiveness.

Lower mechanical execution required, higher strategic execution required.

He doesn't need compensation, he'd still be overloaded.

BIH Diamond1 votes

How is he overloaded?

Sp33d Zer08 votes

Every champion with 7 abilities is overloaded.

Why to compensate? this was a bug to begin with, but riot let in that way because it made LC$ Fla$hy Cancer

Jax and Lee shouldn't be able to ward hop. It was removed from Kat because it was "unhealthy" for her, and I don't see how it's any more healthy for either of them

Katarina used a blink and didn't dash. You couldn't interrupt with cc or displacements. Her E also had a low cooldown. Lee's W is significantly longer.

Clementine7 votes

Lee's W cooldown at level 1 is 9 seconds, Kat's is 10 seconds?

Requiemsfire1 votes

Maybe take into consideration what Kat's passive does?

Clementine12 votes

Maybe take into consideration that doesn't change the base cooldown?

Maybe take into consideration Kat E used to have a 6-8 sec base cooldown?

"used to"

Maybe take into consideration that it hasn't had that for months? So who cares?

comming from someone who played lee a lot this season, he wouldn't be weak lee can do a lot of things and ward hopping is just something he has more

though maybe some number changes would be needed on W cd on minions

Unload On Me9 votes

What about removing Lee's ward hop ability on his W but allowing his Q to interact with wards? So he still has the ability to ward hop but at the cost of his combo. It still allows for flashy plays but now with more counter play potential.

Cocho19 votes

I'd drop a ward to dodge his Q lol

Exactly and i think that would be a smart and healthy counter play

considering the length of ward recharges and the fact that it might make getting sightstone meta for a top laner in that situation i dont see whats wrong with this at all. supports will be forced "okay. either i ward or i save my carry" . . . interesting meaningful choice would be added.

Honestly the nerfs that riot planned for him a year or so ago where going to bury this guy for awhile. people cried out and they kept him as is then they buffed him.
now ward hoping over walls. i played back in the day that naut had a few points he could hook over walls and i liked it. started jungling naut for a bit because of it. Riot stripped him of this. they saw Riven could in a few points. they made it part of her kit. Nid had key points as well. then they built it in her.
Talon never could than they made him have a whole ability based on going over walls.
enough history .. now lets talk what that would do. Lee puts wards all over the map. he does. if they removed the utility of the ward hoping than he would build a different item and finally get out of that utility role with no down side. i know lee "falls off" late game. that utility makes me not really believe that. i cant tell you how much i hate lee. when he does his kick and miss.. than ward hop and flashes to just have the ult anyway. Removing this ability would force him to actually be dependent on landing a 'skill' shot instead of forcing a ward hop flash ult which is such a pain to even predict.

not everyone agrees with me, but i wouldnt mind this guy to lose something. movement speed ? ward hop? something so he just stops succeeding at forced plays.

but how would he insec if he couldn't ward hop?

Excellent question!

He probably wouldn't. Just like how Azir would lose his shuffle without his dash.

It really doesn't make sense if you thing about it. The biggest weakness of targeted dashes is that you need a target. In exchange they get reliability, typically more range, and overall more dmg. When you can simple "create" a target by placing a item 3649 it completely undermines it's counterplay vs skillshot dashes. Also, let us not forget that EVERYONE has a skillshot dash summoner 4

JVlasterQuinn5 votes

He would be for once balanced, all of Lee i get so far do Q+Flash+R combo anyway. The ward jump R is really annoying.

Warmanreaper4 votes

Lee is a high skill champ out play champion... Ward hopping for him is crucial for playing fast sneaky plays or complex plays in general.. Only thing that would replace that is probably a monk type pocket flash or a really good gap closer(besides q.. If u miss q u cant do shit, hence why need another closer.)

Nameless Voice10 votes

Because other champions (such as Amumu) get a free second chance if they miss their primary skillshot?

CrimsonReaps3 votes

What is amumu's second chance?

500000000000000010 votes

I think it's sarcasm. Also, cooldown on Q, I guess.

Nameless Voice6 votes

He doesn't have one - that's the point.

CrimsonReaps2 votes

ah mb wasn't sure if it was sarcasm or not

Snowman Arc2 votes

You can no longer tell sarcasm with the amount of stupidity on the forums. They could have meant Flash lol.

ModKnightsKemplar15 votes

That's why people hate Lee.

With other champs, if you miss your skillshot, you can't do shit. You don't have 6 ways to get onto someone. We're only asking that he operate like other champs, in that he needs to hit his skillshots to do things.

Only LeeSin and Jax still have this nonsensical interaction with wards.

I'm not saying he's OP as is, but I DO think it's bad for the game. He can get compensated any way they want, including some kind of blink. I really don't care. But I HATE that only 2 champs in the game have special dashes with wards. It's just silly to balance for. Take it out.

Name another champ with three gap different skills that are gap closers. The only person I can think of coming close is kled but he has to hit his dash first which would give him 4 total which was another overloaded kit till nerf bat, any champ you name is overloaded.
