Galio Shield doesn't work with Athen'es Unholy Grail?

The item is pretty damn confusing to me so maybe I'm missing it, but it doesn't seem to work with Galio's Bulwark, it's not a convential shield after all. However you would think Riot would want such an item to be fully functional on a champion like Galio.

As of now it seems like Catalyst > Chalice atm.

The "shield" only works if it gives white health to an ally. Since Galio only increases armor/mr, it doesn't work.

Its not a "shield". Its a temp buff to resists.
