The Marksmen and Mage Reworks Make The Juggernaut Rework Look Awful...
The Juggernaut Rework was a pure bust compared to these.
While I'm not a fan of this Marksmen meta I really feel the reworks were a success, Riot giving every marksmen an identity. Quinn is a roamer, Kog'maw is a machine gun, Graves is up close and personal, Corki is magic damage (Package is overkill imo), Vayne is a tank buster, Caitlyn is a sieger, Miss Fortune is a teamfighter.
The Mage rework is looking similar, Brand is AoE madness (I thought they'd change his E though), Zyra is control and anti-engage, Vel'koz is long distance (if you don't need deep Xerath range), Cass is "screw you mobility creep", Vlad is sustain and drain, Ziggs will be a siege machine. Not exactly sure where they're going with Malz he and Brand have always been similar in roles.
Now to be fair I think the problem with Juggernaut's is that they're just a flawed concept in general, I mean they're low mobile, low CC, with high damage and high durability. They just don't work well at high levels of play unless they are overtuned.
I feel like Darius got the best out if it. His Decimate rewards him if he plays it right, while his opponents can play around it, he can be kited, but if he catches you he'll rip you to shreds. Good Apprehends can win a team fight if he has aid getting in range. He also still recks most melee tops, and is actually currently a good answer to the tank top lane meta.
The rest though are just so gimmicky. Skarner is not in a bad place, the fact that he now has a stun is great, but the whole crystal thing just seems silly. It's similar to the Corki package, I'm just not a fan of unique things spawning on the rift due to a champions presence and having such a large impact. I mean Thresh's souls and Bard's chimes are miniscule.
I'm also not to happy about Garen, like Skarner he's at a high win rate, but I can never justify picking him. Before I would pick him to crush weak laners and snowball that lead. Now his early game is just meh, I find myself gaining leads by running around abusing that gimmicky Villain mechanic and snowballing with that, but it's odd to pick a champion for the scale of stopping snowballs. He was a great anti-assassin before but now his silence has a lower duration. Also unlike the other Juggernaut's his damage is very bursty and can't put out consistent damage, also has low kill pressure w/o his ultimate.
Mordekaiser......ugh. What they did to him was just a spit in the face to anyone who played him. (He was my first ever champion). Forcing a long time solo laner into a duo lane was just silly. Create a champion from the ground up for that nonsense. Right now he's actually a monster of a top laner since he outsustains and outtrades just about everyone, but the Dragon Force is so gimmicky. If you get no Dragon's on Morde it's against the point, but if you do....you just force down objectives. Hell the guy can Solo Baron with it.
