A pretty simple answer why the community usually likes reworks more than new champions

Its simple really, seeing a champion become something completely different and getting the changes they needed feels so good, for the mains and other players. Its like finally getting the glasses you probably needed.

I miss old Talon though. (I agree his kit needed changing, but no THAT drastic)

No one really gets hyped about the idea of a new champion as much as a VGU because people are oblivious as to what the new champion will even be. There isn't much to speculate off of "what's next" or to even get excited for a particular theme.

With a VGU our human minds go all over the place and we get extremely hyped up from minute 1, since we know what that character is and can't wait to see how that character is going to be changed drastically into something far cooler and far more enjoyable.

We'd prefer change of something we know exist and needs changed over wanting something we don't even know exist yet (new champs).
