Why so much hate for Support?

Not a Sona rant.

I would like some reasoning as to why Support type champions are always being nerfed when they show any promise beyond being a warding robot. Supports are constantly being nerfed over and over again with little reasoning behind why. I can't even remember the last straight up support buff. Even the dragon's global gold was taken away from supports. I would like to know why riot continually suppresses these champs when they show up top or mid or even do slightly well as their intended role in bot. I understand utility is not the easiest thing to balance but shouldn't utility be a counter to mobility? It seems to me that Riot have a stance that support champs should be terrible anywhere but support.

This trend will eventually backfire and I am already seeing it in bot lane. The constant nerfs to support champs are allowing mid champs like LeBlanc, Xerath and Velkoz to be more powerful options in bot lane as support. Heck, I saw a Shaco support wrecking face and this is in Gold division. Is it really that bad to allow support champs to branch out from the bot lane? Is it terrible for them to have reliable sustain, CC, poke, or damage?

Please riot, tell me why so much hate for the support?

Supports are a fundamentally broken class since they give the best vision and are expected to function with zero gold.

Well some get nerfed because when riot gives them a kit thats strong enough to work with little gold they immediately go top or mid and stomp. Most of the mids that were not designed with a support like kit and go bot just nuke you or poke you but have little in terms of supporting their ally.

Support will either be adored or hated. Adored when you have good players on your team (or even the enemies team) that can recognize good plays even if it isn't apparent. Hated when anything goes wrong. Either you are there and "you didn't do anything" or "you did the wrong thing", or your not there and "you should have been". You really can't win as support. Forced into the support role a lot I have developed a thick skin when it comes to other players... I try to learn all the tricks to squeezing out as much gold as I can and I typically will try to die if it means my adc or other teammate will not (as long as my loss will not negatively affect my team more then the loss of another). Warding as well as possible and praying someone actually cares that I am trying to do the best I can. I always have respect for people that choose the support role on there own regardless of how well they do as long as they give it a good effort.

As far as balance goes... it's hard to balance a support. It's meant to be a 'boosting' role... and as such countless problems arise since they directly affect other champions. A small tweak on one champ may knock a support out of balance, then if they tweak the support then all of a sudden the support is too strong...it's a never ending cycle of what is appropriate for the role, and keeping everything in check. How do you keep a support from jungling? How do you keep a support from out-sustaining a mid or top lane match up and winning the numbers game?

Honestly I never really cared for the 'support' role. It is a fun gimmick but when it comes down to it, it isn't fun for a lot of people, and to those that abhor it, getting 'stuck' in a farm-less role that should avoid kills and not buy the big dmg items lots of people love, is more of a chore then a game. To those that rise to the challenge and accept the responsibility, I give you my respect.

I really haven't noticed supports getting nerfed more then any other class.
