What do I do as Annie against an Aatrox?

I feel like I got hard-countered by Aatrox as Annie, there doesn't seem to be a single thing I can do against him in lane. It's either:

  • I get in range to poke him and subsequently get in range of his 100 to 0 combo from level 1 onwards
  • I play passive and end up being dove under turret with his revive
  • I focus on farming minions but I can't because I can't harass him to keep him from zoning me The only real way I can say I felt in this matchup was 'binary hopelessness', it's either I die now trying to do something or I die later not trying to do anything

Help?

Use your passive stun, and dodge his Q.

Few Aatroxs expect you to dodge towards them. Most of the time they'll either remain stationary, or they'll move towards you/to the side.

You can also bait him into using Q, then wait out the duration. Much like fighting Riven in that regard.

Grab aery and start corrupting potion.

And use that 600 attack range to its fullest.

Every time Aatrox is in range of an auto, send one at him. Last hit with autos so you can always have a stun ready for all ins. Pop the occasional potion if you are low.

Get Sorcs and Oblivion orb after Ludens to help your burst against squishies, then roam.

Ok so basically every time your stun comes up. Walk toward him. Get in range to the point where if he Q's he won't hit the sweet spot. Now your stun can cancel his animation and ability. So bait out his first Q, and either stun him mid 2nd Q or 3rd Q. Farm under tower and if you know the dive is coming, prep your stun. Even if you don't have the stun summon tibbers to chunk down his life before can kill you. When he revives he now cant dive you and just farm under turret. Also since your annie, Id maybe recommend taking predator so that you can roam better because you know you may be behind
