Why you shouldn't AFK/quit if someone takes your role/position

Hey guys, pretty new here but I do feel like I have something to say. I've just had 2 games where someone took/forced/instalocked themselves into a role someone else already called. The first game, the ADC threatened to AFK and did before minions even got to the turret. That irked me since that player essentially turned a 50% winrate to a 14% winrate just by not being there (according to some 4v5 statistics I found). The second game, the jungler who rightfully called jungle also nearly did the same, but chose to stick around for a bit.

Here's where I want to say: If this ever happens, here's why you should never AFK/quit even if you're in the right. Here are the 3 scenarios that would happen. Either:

  • You AFK/quit, in that case you're worse than the instalocker since you'll ruin the game for all 4 of your teammates compared to the instalocker ruining the game just for you
  • You lose, in that case well you can rest well knowing that you can technically lay back the blame on whoever instalocked
  • You win, in that case well you can rest well knowing that you won a game where you/your team was in a sense 'handicapped'

If you keep playing to the end, technically you'll never be in the wrong. But if you do leave half way through or right in the beginning you'll always be somewhat in the wrong.

That game I just finished just now with 2 junglers ended in a very convincing turnaround victory at around mid-game and honestly nothing's more satisfying than having an almost AFK teammate turn around and win together.

Just some thoughts from some newbie but I'd believe this goes for any level of gameplay involving PvP.

Hope you're having a nice holiday!

if you give in to a terrorist's demands then you just give the next terrorist a reason to make the same play.

stand up to terrorism. never let a role stealer get what they want

No. If someone plays my role, or bans my champ, red assured I will not afk. But I will play crit soraka with cleanse and ignite and not heal anyone at all

Keep in mind one thing, understand that there are no hard rules in blind pick. You can go 5 bot and no one will be punished for it.

So there really is no "rightfully" or "instant lockers" rule. Sure, it's common courtesy to follow call order, but people don't get punished for not following it.

People still play blind pick?

Yes...play and report at the end

In my experiecne just go to your position as if nothing happened and report them. You likely will eat reports for not being flexable for an insta locker but better than eating reports for afk

I don't want to keep playing a game where the score is 20 to 2 . Comebacks don't usually happen when you are that behind and I think it is better to just go next instead of everyone ruining their moods.
