I can't seem to have success with any champion

Only got back to playing League like maybe under a month ago or so properly, now I'm like Lv. 18 or something but I just can't seem to find success with anyone. No matter what I play I always seem to be disadvantaged somehow, not to mention that there was this one game in which I was laning against a Gold or something. If I pick someone with engage, they'll have someone with better engage. If I pick someone with damage, they'll have someone with better damage. If I pick someone with CC, they'll have better CC. In other words, no matter who or how I play, there just always seems to be something they can do to me somehow that I can't do back. Also, I may not be the best person to say this since I'm only Lv. 18 or so, but this game doesn't seem to be comeback-possible, like if you win in the first 5 mins the game seems uncontrollably over.

What do I do?

From someone who keeps losing and is desperate for help

  • Go to Shop.

  • Read every champion. All of them. Dont focus on their power or potential.

  • Find the champiom that seems the coolest to you. That you just feel is AWESOME based on their story and what you SEE.

  • Play that champion until you dominate with that champion.

  • Buy more champions, and figure out they are all way easier to perform with now.

Follow steps in order.

You're just new to the game, everyone isn't great when they start playing this game. It's pretty complicated and there's a lot of game knowledge to learn.

Play another game. League is not worth the time/effort to learn.

While league does have a certain 'skill' to it. Success in league is not like success in other games. Its not being faster or more precise or having better strategy. Rather its know sht like Pyke's grip hit box is slightly off centered from the graphic, or that one of lux's skin makes make her skill shots essentially invisible on the ground, so you have to watch her cast animation. The list just goes on but success is due to tiny little non-sense sht that would be considered 'bugs' in any other game but in league its what makes/breaks people.

Its stupid and a waste of time, trust me just walk away and play something that actually requires skill, or tactics, or strategy, and not this face roll insta-delete snowball fck-fest.

m8 im. playing this game since 4 or maybe 5 year now, and i have to admit that i felt the same way (thought that was a support exclusive problem) for about 3 1/2 years until i started to otp lulu on my other account. It took me mkre than half a year to learn her to a extent where i could work with it. After i started playing ranked again i just stomped the first games entirely and also the following ones seemed to be in my favor. I was able to climb out of silver 4 up to gold 2 by just playing otp lulu (echanters werent entirely garbage like they are right now). The only big problem is that as support you tend to get even mofe tilted than the average player, because especially as enchanter ur heaviliy tied to your adcs, better your teams performance. That also does strengthen the feeling of not beeing able to do anything, no matter what champ, build, runes, etc. you try, if your team does feed anyways. To put it in a nutshell you have to find a champ that is fun for you. It doesnt matter if hes meta, or good, its important that u dont get bored playing him over and over again. If you found one you just spamm him over and over again, to learn every little detail about him and how you can overcome your enenmy. Tbh you dont have to think about meta until ur in high plat low dia, and even there it doesnt matter sometimes. Find your one trick pony. [slayer-jinx-catface]

There isn't really an easymode lategame champion that doesn't require decent decision making/mechanics besides Kassawin anymore. I still remember playing pre reworked Vlad and oneshotting people by just tapping q and e.

Your best bet is to just focus on your lane opponent and build to beat them the whole game in the 1v1. As long as you're consistently more useful than your lane opponent, you'll climb.

If you can't fight because their team has too much cc/better engage etc, you need to just splitpush the whole game and take pressure off your team. A lot of champions that are strong in a 5v5 setting are much weaker in a 1v1 setting and vice versa.

If I pick someone with engage, they'll have someone with better engage. If I pick someone with damage, they'll have someone with better damage. If I pick someone with CC, they'll have better CC. In other words, no matter who or how I play, there just always seems to be something they can do to me somehow that I can't do back.

Some champions have the same strengths, but the way that they apply those strengths in their actual gameplay is completely different.

For example, Lissandra has point and click CC on her ultimate. So does Malzahar, but the way their kit works is completely different. Lissandra wants to engage fights while Malzahar wants to sit back, make picks, and not be super risky. He also has high DPS compared to Lissandra's lower than average burst potential.

Xerath and Velkoz are strong poke champions, but Xerath has AOE while Velkoz is more single target but with a lot of skill he will always hit you with his Q splitting unless you're behind minions.

Twitch and Vayne are two of the strongest lategame ADCs with stealth, but Twitch has AOE while Vayne has more single target burst making Twitch the better champion for teamfights.

It's best to play according to that champion's strengths because if you don't, they generally perform worse. If you play Lux you can't 1v1 Yasuo because he has "more damage and everything than you" but if you keep your distance and wait for teamfights you just outshine him because you're Lux. Now from the yasuo's perspective, you're the one that has "more damage and everything than you"

If the game feels so one-sided for you then I suggest you play the champions that your opponents are playing.

Monstermushmush12/31/2018, 11:09:58 PM1 votes

Play Jax and Tryndamere. These are my two absolute favorite carry champions. But Jax is stronger ATM.

There are very few actual new players out there. There's a very good chance that you're just getting smacked by people that already know how to play the game and it's making you feel like the champ may not be strong enough to win.

I'd just practice on some bots tbh. No shame in learning the game in a semi-controlled environment.

I'd also recommend Sona - she's literally THE comeback hero in my experience. She can lose lane, and then still decimate once she hits her late-game power spike. (My typical build is Redemption, Ardent Censer, and then start going ham at Lich Bane, Deathcap, and Luden's). Enchanter supports as a whole are generally flexible, and I like them because I never feel like I'm in a hopeless matchup. They're kind of designed to cover weaknesses in a lane.

Poppy might be a good pick too... she's only 450 BE, she's reliable and I rarely get the feeling of being directly outclassed by an enemy hero pick as her.

Buy Garen and Warwick, always queue for top and jungle. Make sure you have at least 1 support and 1 adc you're at least familiar with and either accept the autofilled games as possible losses or dodge the queue.

My advice is to always hope to get top and for you to play Garen, he is very simple but very strong. If you want to watch some videos I suggest watching TheGlacierr to start and lots of people will flame this cause he isn't at all the best Garen streamer by a long shot, which is true. However, he explains the power of different runes very simply and he has so many videos showing different match ups that he is a good place to start. Riste is, imo, the best Garen in NA but his content is limited.

Moving on, play Garen top. He has some awful match ups but in low levels that's almost negligible, you almost never see Kennen Swain Quinn etc. The other match ups Garen struggles against are usually banned out Irelia Jax however they aren't unwinnable if you're patient, which is how Garen wins his lanes and how you'll learn to be better at the game. Your job in lane when you're Garen is to just capitalize on mistakes, don't make plays just let them screw up and punish them. In a Garen vs melee match ups, stay near your melee minions, and if they try to take one give them an auto+q trade them walk into the bush, do this on cool down for the entire first wave but don't trade if you'll lose a creep for it. The majority of players you face will not react to this and it sets you up for a level 2 kill.

I don't want to inflate my post to make it giant, so message me or add me in client if you're interested in playing Garen. He has the ability to take over games in low skill settings and his build options let him choose to help his team or help himself. He really is perfect for this situation you're in, I think :)

I don't know why everyone is telling you to play this champ or that. But I'm not really on board with telling you to play Garen, Annie or whatever champ they think is "ez mode".

Annie for example, with all her simplicity is a champion I can never click with. I always feed on her. Azir on the other hand, despite being arguably the most difficult champion in the game, I was able to maintain a nice 53% win rate on him back when I mained him. Take these champion suggestions everyone is giving you with a grain of salt. The reason I can play Azir much better than I can play Annie despite Annie being by far the easier champion, is because I enjoyed playing Azir. I never enjoyed playing Annie.

This brings me to my point. You just haven't found the champions you click with yet. I've played almost every champion in this game at least once. I think there are like 4 I've never played on SR. What I've noticed is that there are champions that I click with after just a few games and there are champions that no matter how much I play them I can't get them at all. I always feed or end up not being able to do anything.

Annie, Kai'sa and Camille are just three examples of champions that despite how much I try, I just can't do shit with them. Something in their kits or play style just doesn't resonate with me and I do horribly every single time I play them. In contrast, the very first time I played Kayle, she clicked for me. I went like 10-4 my very first PvP game on Kayle. And to date, she is the champion I've had the most success on. I also clicked with champions like Malphite, Nasus, Leona, Nautilus, Nocturne, Vi, Shyvana, old Akali, old Irelia. Miss Fortune, Ashe and a handful of others.

What I would suggest you do is play as many champions as possible. Try them all. You will click with some of them and they will become your champion pool. 99% of League players have a champion pool that can range from one champion to as many as 20 champions. You have no need to learn how to play all of League's champions but you MUST find the ones that resonate with you most. The easiest way for you to know which champions might be for you is to ask one simple question.....was this champion fun to play? If the answer is yes, then there is a 90% chance that this is a champion you would become very proficient at. Also, you may not click with a champion on the first game. Shyvana is an example of this for me. My first game with Shyvana, I didn't get her at all but I knew liked her intended play style and she had some elements in her kit I enjoyed. By the 5th game with her, I figured her out and started doing very well on her. She went on to become my most played champion in season 8. So try each champion at least 5 times before you decide whether they are for you or not.

FioraWillCarry is mostly right, the easiest way to find a champion who will bring you success is finding one you enjoy playing. However, dont blow through the entire roster of champs lol, you will 100% glaze over a champ you otherwise would have loved because you desperately want to find something that "wins" for you.

I suggested Garen cause, in my case, I think he's fun as hell to play. His art is mostly really good and I like his entire theme or fearless leader charging into battle, which translate pretty good into his gameplay.

Also, sucks we cant chat in client lol, but if youre ever on NA add me and we can play :)

Illabethe12/31/2018, 7:30:47 AM1 votes

My advice? Start off with a support like Sona.

Then grab a Zyra.

Learn jungle by grabbing Udyr, but then apply how you play Udyr to other junglers (even if they have more mobile kits - Udyr is a bush ganker...... he will teach you some jungle fundamentals about waiting and patience, and aggressive counterjungler you won't learn on many other champs)

For top...... Learn to Kill-Less win lanes with Garen (Not kidding. Don't attack the other laner. just learn to CS perfectly, and stay alive and push in the lane. That will teach you more about top lane than any other playstyle/champ. if looking for a reference, Look up Glacierr on Youtube)

Adc actually takes learning. Sivir and Jinx are the two easiest to learn, although people heavily believe Ezreal is easier to learn. But...... Ezreal teaches bad habits. Like..... relying on skills too much and not playing like an adc. And using skills poorly to engage bad fights where he either trades or fails to kill.

You should take the champion you find the coolest then learn to play him until you die. you'll eventually learn other champs by playing against them. you can try them from time to time but i suggest you stick with the one you 've found badass

MrHaZeYo12/31/2018, 10:54:58 AM1 votes

Well, we should start with a question that should be asked.

What role do you want to play, what class do you want to play?

When you play RPGs, what type of characters are you drawn too? Me I love Mages/Wizard/Magic so I started looking through the Mages and AP champs. They went mid, so that's where I started and still play 6 years later lol.

When I 1st started, Idk why but I played a lot of Akali, she was free the week I started so I learned her, but I went through every character and looked at their skill sets, not to learn about them but to see which ones look the coolest. So after Akali, I went to Ahri and those were the two champions I played almost every game until 30 lol. Top, Mid, ADC, i didn't know or care any better. I eventually would lane vs these random champions and be like oh they seem cool, so I picked up LB, Fizz, Orianna, Ziggs and Syndra, and weirdly enough those are still the champs I play a decent amount today. Although I tend to switch it up a lot.

Don't get me wrong, I've played every role, and class over my time now, but most of my time was spent mid. Figure out what two roles you want to learn as well, everyone should know two, but that can wait a bit.
