[Bard Q] Will adding AP after casting W increase its effectiveness?

Nebuul··1 votes·1,019 views

If I cast a Caretaker's Shrine in lane and port back to town and buy some more AP, will the heal pads I left behind for my ADC get better or do they function as a snapshot of my AP when originally cast?

Edit: This is important because it will mean I need to recast all 3 shrines after buying items even if my ADC has not used the shrines.

I have played on the PBE and can confirm that they retroactively change upon purchasing AP or upgrading the ability.

Thank you for checking instead of guessing. It's a big help!

Healing shrines will most likely not gain an increase in the health they can give if you buy AP after you place them. If you could then you could go to base sell everything get as much AP as you could, have the ally pick up the heals, and then revert all your store purchases.

I'd actually assume this is not true.

Teemo's shrooms set a precedent. An existing shroom's strength changes as your stats change. If you place a shroom at Noxious Trap rank 1, then upgrade Noxious Trap to rank 2, the shroom will do rank 2 damage. If you place a shroom and then buy a Void Staff, the newly-acquired AP/MPen will apply to the existing shroom. However, if someone pops a shroom, you can no longer undo your purchase.

The undo option is disabled as soon as the stats affect the map.

So Bard probably does upgrade existing shrines when he buys AP. He probably also loses the option to undo those purchases as soon as someone steps on a shrine.

Normally with skillshots and delayed effects the ratios are calculated when they do something. This means that ap ratio is most likely calculated when they are taken and not placed. I have however not checked if this holds true for traps so I might be wrong.

Yes, due to them lasting indefinitely, it would make no sense for it not to. I also checked as well to double confirm.
