where is the incredibly difficult part in ornn's kit that makes his shit winrate acceptable

Can anyone point to someone that has a good winrate with him in high elo?

His entire kit is telegraphed and easy to play around. His passive is nice but it doesnt make up for his shitty state when instead of extra 30 AD, i can have a good engage tank or a good split pusher.

so instead of buffing his Q and/or E riot buffs his mana costs. This doesnt change the fact that he is too easy to play against outside of the laning phase

Having games last past 30 minutes so that everyone on your team has his upgraded item.

THAT'S the learning curve that riot is suggesting ?

You have to consider a fair portion of his "power" is lost to that. That's why I'm surprised he hasn't shown up in Support yet.

I could see him being half decent at disengaging/counter engaging as support, mainly w/ his ult

Edit: also completely agree with your comment about his kit's power budget, so much is used on that passive, but the majority of games are too short for people to complete the upgraded item and a lot of his power is wasted.

not a big fan of having him sup, he has strong engage/disengage power, but its all too slow to be effective. plus auto attacking an adc with a melee champ other than blitz/leona is rough and thats where a majority of his cc really comes in. its much easier to pull it off coming from the jungle when youre behind the adcs and can get in their faces.(or when you know your jungler will be coming from the same direction with their cc)

anyway, he has 2 big weaknesses imo- 1. He has 3 major kit flaws- his q is too weak/short/slow, you have to follow up for brittle to be useful and his scaling is stupid (ad, ap and armor/mr...). 2 other champs are just better, xin/yi/sejuani are better junglers, blitz/soraka/janna better sup. top lanes a bit different as he can counter some things, but the idea is the same.
