The war between Ranged top and Melee Top

The problem with Ranged Top vs Melee Top is the issue in which melee champions cannot engage easely on Ranged top laners. The reason why some players pick ranged top is to either have an easier laning phase or to stomp and bully their top laner by shutting them down before they become a nightmare to deal with.

But then in another case if the melee champion itemization were to mitigate too much free pokes then whats the point of even playing a ranged top?

If I'm playing vs and he were to just build and afk farm top then this makes the lane even more uninteractive because no matter how much AP and pen I'll buy I'll never be able to truly punish him and he can just run me down at any moment.

Right now the game is not truly lost for the top laners if they were to face a ranged top laners, but the thing is that the jungler who camp more often usually decides which lanes wins by default.

But if discourage top lane then top laners are going to complain about it being a lonely island.
