Patch 5.4 "Never Forget"

In February 2015 Riot released the Patch 5.4 bomb which hit the Rift and began the end of all things.

It had begun like most things do in an innocent manner

Rumours stirred that change was coming. That the old problems which had plagued the Rift since the New jungle would be gone. People heard that forgotten heroes of old such as and would once again be viable and return to their power. Junglers would be balanced and overpowered mobility would be counter-able. The player base looked to the skies with hope.... ... however the whispers of counter-play, compensation, and strategic diversity went unnoticed.

The PBE saw it first. At first they were confused and baffled when the bomb entered their field of view. It seemed misguided, staggering in its flight with no aim or direction and was not headed the way people had said it would be. The quickly tried to contact Riot Games, to warn the balance team that the bomb was not going to meet its intended purpose and that death and broken champions would be the only result. But there was no response.

Frantically the player base took up arms and went to the boards posting advice, concerns and starlight up conflicts with the patch. They pleaded,reasoned and raged but their opinions were brushed aside like chaft in the wind as the patch flew on. The hollow promises of compensation for DFG removal and Jungle balancing ringing out in their ears as the only response from Riot was either dead silence or assuring the people that the patch would go over well.

At ground zero (The Rift) things were going on as usual....

"What do you mean I can't enter!?!" Roared as she stood outside a door to a building. "Sorry lady can't you read the sign!" The guard shouted back as he pointed upwards with his finger. Glaring Shyvana looked up and read out "Viable Junglers only......."

With a hiss of anger she spat at the guards feet and went of to join the ever growing crowd of useless junglers where cried and even invisible, couldn't hide her sorrow.

The bomb hit the rift soon after decimating the already weakened and non-viable Junglers to oblivion.

Inside the building Vi, Jarvan, Rek'sai and Lee sin where drinking and enjoying their long reign and popularity however as the bomb struck through the roof Jarvan the Fourth, being the noble he was, Jumped in front of the blind monk taking the blow for him while shouting his battle cry. **"FOR THE LCS BIG PLAYS!". **

As the dust settled they all found themselves okay and Jarvan's armour was only scratched.

Others were not so lucky. and were throwing a party to celebrate their supposed buffs/reworks when Veigar sensed evil. Rushing outside he saw the shockwave of the bomb approaching and could see the misguided efforts, the hypocrisy and discontent the patch carried. Raising his staff he tried to stun it but sadly a bomb , nor anything with the slightest sense stands still for more than 0.75 seconds. The patch had already affected Veigar and his broken body was hurled aside into the graveyard where and hung out.

Inside the hall was blinded by the light of the shockwave and when he recovered his vision a shadow figure leapt at him. The champion of the shadow Isles was not frightened and unloaded all his spells on the enemy but the figure dodged most of them and the ones that did hit did no damage.

As Mordekaiser was knocked down by his opponent and saw the destruction and wreckage that lay upon the rift he asked his assault ant one question. "WHY?"

smiled behind his mask as he stabbed his blades into Mordekasier's body and whispered in his ear "The balance team sends their regards." ....................................................................

A player rose from the wreckage coughing and wheezing. Brushing dirt off his shoulders he struggled to stand and shake his fist at the sky cursing patch 5.4 and all associated with it. However his rant was interrupted by the sight of something nearby on the ground. It was small box bearing the label "Riot Care Package"

Trying to quell his rising sense of hope the player ripped open the box praying that Riot still cared about what its player base thought and said........

Inside the box was a flyer announcing a new super mobility based, built in Zhonya's hourglass champion, and a poster advertising DJ Sona for the cheap price of 20$.

Swearing the player hoped that one day his faith in Riot could be Revived but then realized that spell was removed as well. .............................................
