why use custom item sets when you can just build the items, unless of course you have no idea how you should be building the champions you play.

Riot's pretty much accepted both of her main roles (she's a pretty decent flex pick, to be honest), and her recommended build just reflects her most popular role (she's played at least three times more often as a support than a midlaner) more so than them losing touch with her identity.

Victurn Up1 votesOh that's what I noticed to my roommate yesterday. Of course she's a fantastic support but she's also very useful mid lane, for countering Heimer's or Malzahar's hard push. Just farm like hell and go flash ult in team fight. GG WP

The AP is pretty shitty yes but the 2g per 10s and 15g per hit (max 45g in 30s) will pay for the item itself so it can be sold later as it'll help you obtain full build faster. CDR because why not, and 150% mana regen seems useful. It also has the twin shadows active now which is pretty useful with the current state of vision, plus slows = easy skill shots
Just a thought even though yes that's clearly a support recommended build, it could turn out to be the best first item if you go back with a large chunk of gold.

You see, when an immobile mage is too weak to compete in mid lane, they become supports.
