Let's Be Real Here. New Champions are Just Older Ones With Better Stuff.

I don't understand how and why the community allows Riot Games to get away with this. Players are super excited about the new champion and the past few, when they realize that some of these champions are exactly like what we already have. Riot Games have yet to actually go back and work on older champions. There is an Aatrox, Akali, new champion, and recent VGU champion rework every single week. Where are the updates for the champions that need art and kit updates? On the same ones these Developers work on every single patch, but have the nerve to tell their community they care about all of their champions.

  1. Ivern and Karma - Karma's shield bomb was removed from her and put on Ivern, but Karma's Mantra E is nothing new to the game and it is already in the game on two item actives. Why wasn't Karma's Mantra E given the same treatment that Ivern's did, despite the ability being on her first?

Karma has no gameplay identity, receives contradictory nerfs and buffs, and her kit is so one dimensional now that no one even thinks about her anymore.

  1. Neeko and LeBlanc - Really? The trickster champion is not a trickster anymore when you compare her to Neeko, who is better in concept and abilities. The ability to clone oneself was unique to LB, but it's only procced with a passive right now. The ability to turn into other champions was suggested to be on LB for years, until Riot Games took that away from her and put it on a new champion.

  2. Yuumi and Sona - Really? Are we even going to talk about how reminiscent this champion is to Sona? Sona needs a lot of work, yet Riot Games creates a new champion that is just a better Sona. The ULT? Really? The Heal? Really? Let's not even talk about all of the art, VO and other problems Sona has.

  3. Yuumi and Lulu - So part of this new champion's kit is basically Pix, right? Legit, the same concept just done 10x better than Lulu.

Lulu was actually fun to play in a solo lane. Because he kit was nerfed and altered so much, she is just outclassed by every other champion. Also, she looks a mess as well.

  1. Yuumi and Taric - It was Taric's thing to shoot abilities off from allies with his crystals. That was something new and unique to give him . . .

These Developers DO NOT CARE ABOUT OLD CHAMPIONS! If they did they would be updating some of these problem champions (there is over 60+ of them right now) who have outdated art and needs minor kit adjustments. Reav3s said they have no plans to do any mini-VGU or will have plans to do one soon. The vast majority of the community are tired of kit overloaded and overbearing new champions with the same concepts, identities and updated abilities that older champions already have.

New champions already get prioritized balance adjustments and reworks. New and popular champions already get prioritized skins and art updates all the time. These Developers screwed up massively on two large scale VGU last year and then they come up with the excuse that the community doesn't like VGU as a whole. No, you screwed up on those two massive VGU because you didn't keep what was liked and you didn't listen to the mains and community who were telling you otherwise, like you did with Karma 6 years ago. Like you did to Morde. Like you did to Skarnar. Morgana and Ezreal is probably one of the most successful VGU and reworks you guys have done in a very long time, because you kept the majority of their kit intact and you didn't change their art that much. All the community wants in this game is the opportunity for their champions to receive the same treatment you give to popular and new champions. RIOT GAME DEVELOPERS DON'T CARE! Let's create new champions with the same identities, gameplay identities, kit and purpose as an older one . . . . so we can make tons of money off our community and continue to tell them we care about all of our champions. You don't.

Hold them accountable, call them out, and stop supporting them. These Developers need to be put in the hot seat to get it right . . . because right now it isn't right that they are ignoring almost half of their champion pool for new champions with the same things as older ones. It's ridiculous.

I worry that the calculation is that its cheaper to make a new champion, than it is to redesign an old champion and update all of their skins.

That would suck, because most of the champions on the roster could use some modernization.

If every new champ keeps coming out with a dash or stealth, why not rework older champs and give them tools to limit mobility with grounding or a dash stopping field like Poppy?

Why dont they rework an Enchanter out of point and click spells like they did with Taric?

Exactly. I wouldn't add more mobility to an old champion unless it was done like Morg, where she got a speed increase casting her ULT. When they change the champions too much players get upset. Developers are just using the excuse of how bad they failed wit Irelia, Akali and Aatrox as a reason to practically do nothing to their old champion roster now.
