Drakes should be in order, not randomised, the current system is competitively unhealthy.

Random factors should really be at a minimum for a game like League where it is ideal for skill to prevail.

The current system has drake spawns randomised but I suggest a different system.

4:00 - Cloud Drake spawns.

10:00 - Mountain Drake spawns.

16:00 - Ocean Drake spawns.

21:00 - Infernal Drake spawns.

26:00 - Infernal drake spawns.

31:00 - Mountain drake spawns.

35:00 onwards - Elder dragon spawns every 10 minutes.

(maybe not this order but this is just a rough example of what could possibly be good).

This is very similar to the current system however the dragons have set spawn times, and if they are not taken they are overtaken by the next dragon, having random dragons is very unhealthy (Imagine you get 3 cloud drakes in a row but then your enemy gets 3 infernals)

thanks for reading :)

Both teams have the opportunity to get every dragon, so I don't see how it's unfair. Even if the type was predetermined, that wouldn't make it so one team still couldn't end up with shitty dragons (or none) while the other got good ones.

Them being random allows every game to be different instead of having additional phases, and the teams can adjust their strategy according to what pops up. If the dragons were predetermined there would be set phases where you take the dragon then push that advantage it gives you, and it would be the same every match. That isn't technically a bad thing, but it isn't better than random.

I thought about this, however, some teams have a late game team and others early, if an early game team were to say get 3 mountains then the game would be over, but if they got 3 clouds they'd probably end up losing, I'm just saying that it makes things unpredictable.

it doesn't have to be exactly ordered but there really needs to be a pattern.

they need to revert back to the old drake

That was actually pretty good, the dragonslayer buffs.

Outside of the snowballing that can occur in the occasional game where 3 infernals/oceans/mountain spawn back to back in just the right team comp matchup, the drake system seems fine to me as is. It at least breaks up the monotony a bit and for me, it does change how I go about playing in preparation for if we want to do drake or let it go. This isn't randomness in the "X% chance to get massive benefit" sense as both teams can contest the drake and the effects are noteworthy but not gamebreaking (again, aside from the rare instance a team that's ahead also manages to nab something like 3 infernals).

Only thing I'd really like to see in terms of randomization is the potential for drakes to maybe spawn in the top bit so that Summoner's Rift isn't so heavily bot-lane centered and it also gives both teams the opportunity in game to end up on the river and bush/choke-point sides of the pit.

Needs to be not randomised, doesn't matter how.

while i don't particularly like the random factor myself.

making specific order is stupid

all that it doing to do is make, players try to play around hitting thier power spikes for a specific dragon , or pickign specific champ that go really good with a certain dragon but also hit their highest power-spike right when the one they value most goes live.

if isnt goign to be completely random.. then i think there should be some sort of way to CONTROL what dragon gets spawned, via some type of objective that needs to be fought over somehow in order to control what spawns next

Control would be a good option, the pattern idea is just an example, a 100% random factor is just really bad and needs to go.

I personally really love the dragon system, though the Mountain Dragons do need some kind of buff, seeing how Infernal does their job in a different way, simply by buffing all damage.

Right now, the value of the dragon changes depending on its type, your teams comp, the enemies comp and the phase it is in. For example, getting ocean drake at level six in a team with a Jayce, a Sona and an Ezreal would be worth a lot more to them than to a team with a Garen, a Zed and a Shyvana.

If you can read as jungler how important a non important dragon is to the enemy team, then you can predict if they'll try to get it early, or if it might be worth the enemy jungler's time more to focus on ganking during that time. So, more skill is required for the jungler on your team.

Well, for me as a Nasus main, I actually prefer Mountain over Infernal, considering majority of my damage to turrets do not come from AD or AP, besides the fact that I don't even build much AD/AP to begin with. That being said, this is a fringe case, and in most other cases Infernal > Mountain.

I guess indeed Nasus doesn't really need it. On the other side of the spectrum, I've found Infernal to be too strong on Akali, as this not only buffs her damage, but also her survivability, as well as working too well with the other side of her passive.

In case of survivability, she will get more spellvamp, which, when you have triple infernal, baron, and perhaps even Elder Dragon, combined with your base AD and Hextech Gunblade, can result in 30% (+15 from Gunblade though it works on all damage.) Spellvamp.

The other half of her passive will not only mean she will deal a higher % of her AD on every AA, (6% + 1% per 6 AP, of her AD) but it'll also give her more AD, which means she has a buff in damage per dragon.

Now the solution to balancing this is a little tricky, perhaps. Making the passive scale only on her base AD, would make dragons and barons a little bit too underpowered. Something that might work, however, is splitting her base AD and bonus AD. For example:

DISCIPLINE OF FORCE: Akali's basic attacks deal 6% (+ 1% per 6 AP) of her base AD + 6% of her bonus AD as bonus on-hit magic damage. DISCIPLINE OF MIGHT: Akali permanently has 6% (+ 1% per 8 bonus AD) spell vamp.

Here, the damage part of her passive has been split, so her AP still makes it do a lot of damage, but an AD increase will no longer affect it a lot. The second part was a little harder, as it's supposed to scale on bonus AD, so instead, I hope a simple number nerf would balance it enough.

In conclusion, this means that she gets way too much per Infernal, and I'd like to see her passive changed to have higher scaling on her base AD, and lower scaling on bonus AD.

Infernal has always been a lot stronger on hybrid champs, because they use both aspects of it, unlike ADC or APC who only use the AD or the AP respectively. One way to even this out would be to make it a % damage increase instead.

Random s better. ordered is bad.

The reason being is that if teams know what order the dragons come in, then they can explicitly decide ahead of time what dragons they DO want to get and what dragons they don't even want to consider contesting, making dragon pointless or trading objectives for dragon irrelevant. The Randomness is needed because it creates a pressure where both teams need to pay attention to what dragon comes next and then have to decide what objectives are worth more instead of it being predictable. Plus if they are in order it becomes impossible to get the tier 3 buffs without spending way too much time in a match.

Frankly the drake buffs just need to be rebalanced so that none are vastly superior to another. Ocean and Cloud are considerably less desirable even for comps they are the best on/against than Infernal and Mountain, and the last two can seriously snowball games while the first two just make you win a bit more. Furthermore, currently the value of Ocean Drake depends too much on what champions are in the game.

Also, 2-3 mountains makes killing Baron way too fast for certain team comps, to the point where it's nigh impossible for the opposing team to properly react even if done in perfect vision.
