Diana tips?

So I just bought Diana for a midlaner after saving up for her (she's been on my list for a while) and I've been having trouble figuring out how to set up her builds and masteries.

Note: I haven't tested this in pvp yet cause she's my midlaner, it's rare to get mid for me.

At first I tried 18 ferocity with DFT and using the attack speed mastery over the spell damage mastery. But since her passive already gives her attack speed, I wondered if that was needed. I also put 12 into resolve so I could increase the power of her shields.

Despite my dislike for thunderlords, Diana is a champion that I'd be willing to test it on. ButI'd like some points to see if the ferocity tree works better with her.

For items, well the only item I really rush is item 3115 for obvious reasons since spellblade isn't around. Beyond that I'm not sure. I was thinking item 3100 but I don't have the best knowledge of AP items (I rarely played AP heavy champions).

I also thought about item 3158 but I'm not sure if they scale with the summoner spell CDR mastery in resolve (since it's a unique passive).

So, tips? I don't normally play champions like Diana (I'm not great with carrying) but I do enjoy her so I'd like some help. Plus it's better to get mid lane fill and have a midlaner. And I can use her for the jungler as well.

Diana is better off rushing some resistances or health if she's midlane.

Rylai's rush is one of the most unsung yet effective rushes on Diana, however Abyssal can allow her to eat up harass as well.

Nashor's is a luxury on Diana. You're better off Luden's as a second pick up and adjust as the game goes on (Zhonyas, DCap and Lich are great choices)

12/18 is standard on non-DoT mages, simply because the Flat Pen in Cunning is better than the % MPen until your opponent has over 200 MR at Level 18 and Thunderlord's.

Only the Armor Pen side of it

Rushing Nashors in midlane might not always be the best choice. Actually, if you play Diana, you need to adapt your build depending on against what type of champion you play. Nashors is good if youre up against a champ who likes long trades (e.g. Yasuo), but if you play against somebody who can 100-0 you (Veigar or Annie), thats not going to help you a lot. An Abyssal Scepter rush may be better in that case. If your opponent rushes MR, you could think about getting an early Sheen since it does physical damage. If you need to burst your enemy down as quickly as possible, you could go for Ludens, and versus an AD midlaner Zhonyas is of course the way to go. Items that work well on Diana: item 3001 item 3136 (not item 3151 )item 3100 item 3285 item 3165 item 3089 item 3027 item 3116 item 3157

For Boots I'd recommend item 3020 since Diana is an assassin and she needs the burst. item 3158 item 3111 can work, too.

jungle with her. build devoure rageblade gunblade ninja tabis. dead mans plate.and spirit visage or banshees. and your god. not really but its way better off than ap diana. the only way ap diana is good now if it goes late game. which doesn't happen often. she doesn't have high base damage and her magic scales are all in her 3rd strike. she does more damage from autos than her ult. think about that. with devoure every 2nd strike is a cleave. ap is prob more fun though. i did the devoure thing twice. but i haven't built a successful ap diana since 5.22 started. its just awful for diana now imo. unless u get fed that is. the items are more expensive and then again shes more of an all in ap champ that takes a lot of ap to do damage if u want to be an assassin.

the devoure build is kind of a joke because thats probably not how shes meant to build but that combo rageblade and devoure is just broken on anyone that is good in mele with on hit.

I'd say either Abyssal, Zhonyas, or Rylais first, then Luden's second then your mana regen item after that and the rest of your build however

Usually see Diana build either item 3001 or item 3157 early depending on the matchup, other than that there are a few different builds depending on if you want burst or sustained damage, I'd probably recommend going Lichbane most of the time and just stacking AP so you can assassinate people.

12/18/0 masteries, take the TLD.

Depending on matchup I usually start abyssal or hourglass, merc treads or tabi, then the other item I didn't rush followed by nashors. She shouldn't need another CDR item, 20% is fine with her cool downs. Last two items situational, but most games I take void staff.

Be aggressive with her in lane, and try to be among the minions for trades so when they throw something at you popping your shield can farm for you as well as negate the trade, even out right win the trade if you are close enough to the enemy the spheres hit them and proc TLD. Make sure u ward up, it's not tough to gank her pre 6.

Prioritize taking towers with her, her split push is insane. Don't be afraid to initiate fights and take out a carry at the start or get a whole group bunched up with your knock up and then hourglass while your team piles on leaving you with opportunities to clean up when hourglass wears off.

For silly fun time with a bad build give devourer>guinsoos jungle di a shot. It's not an ideal strategy but it is hella funny when a Yi or jax or fiora thinks they can still duel with you despite all that plus challenging smite plus hourglass. Pretty damn funny.
