Why Olaf is hard to balance.

I read somewhere that Riot intends to make Olaf into a juggernaut but his current kit just won't allow that to happen without him just getting out of hand. So Juggernauts are supposed to have low mobility right? Well Olaf technically doesn't have any mobility but his q is pretty much a long range perma slow. This basically makes Olaf very hard to kite. As long as Olaf has this perma slow it'll be very risky to add power to his kit because it just makes him able to chase anyone down along with being able to fight anyone while also being difficult to kill. Those 3 together don't make for healthy gameplay and one of them has to go if Riot is gonna rework him. Right now Olaf is in a spot where he builds tank and does little damage and gives really mediocre utility to his team or he builds damage and just explodes. As long as he has that perma slow and crowd control immunity, it'll be very hard for Riot to balance him. If we look at old Olaf, he could slow his opponent forever from long range, tanky and hard to kill, while also being able to dish out a lot of damage. Olaf today is either too squishy and dies instantly or tanky and doesn't do damage. Just thought i'd throw out that notice out there in case.

I think the thing is that the lack of MS allows juggernauts to be kited, and Olaf's R basically nullifies any kite by friendly peel and self-peel.

Yeh that's why he's not allowed to be both tanky and do a lot of damage while having a permaslow and an ult immune to cc. You can't run from him. so What do ya do? You fight it out or get help.

Uh, Olaf is actually really strong right now

He gets picked/banned in pro play often and carried a game yesterday in pro play, edg vs snake

I'm not saying Olaf is unviable. He's definitely viable but he's just in a weird spot. But Riot cannot make him a juggernaut per say with lots of damage and innate tankiness at the same time with the current kit he has.

Olaf nothing. If anything Pawn's Twisted Fate carried that game.

Not that it was ever anything close to a game after the opening minutes anyways (lol, actually choosing to swap solo Ashe into top lane against an Olaf)

I thin his kit should stay the same. The only thing they should do is buff his w's life steal so Olaf doesn't always instantly get bursted when using Ragnarok.

So, if simply w's life steal is buffed, Olaf can still be taken out by range when Ulting, but will not INSTANTLY die as long as you have the utility to get into melee range.

Simple.
