Mundo

So champions are supposed to have different strengths and weaknesses which can be leveraged to maximize them when you play them and beat them when you play against them. But right now, I feel like mundo has exactly 1 weakness and it's far from easily exploitable.

Mundo early is weaker, but can far from long range with minimal effort... leaving the only real option for punishing him as tower diving with a teammate, because a good mundo won't let you chunk him at all (or at least not enough) that you can 1v1 tower dive him. Thus, the only way to punish is by tower diving him early with a teammate or two and repeat killing him so he falls behind and never comes online. Kinda sounds likeNasus .

Mundo with items becomes nigh unkillable and will go even or win most every splitpush battle... barring perhaps the best duelists. But even these champs cannot easily get anywhere splitting because they can't stop mundo from sitting under tower and waveclearing 1v1. So we end up with a mundo that deals damage more on par with a bruiser or fighter in teamfights and 1v1's while having the durability of a tank and a built-in warmogs. He also has perma-cc-reduction to the point that unlike a Fiora or Jax whom you can PEEL in fights... there is no peeling mundo. When caught out... those champs can be bursted for their mistakes... mundo cannot. But mundo is a tank, so we maybe shouldn't compare him to jax or fiora right? Well, back to that nasus. Like mundo, nasus is a ticking time bomb of damage and durability. The differences? Nasus is more punishable 1v1 in lane AND nasus can be kited by cc. As we already mentioned, mundo basically ignores all cc via his w and any tenacity items he buys.

To sum things up...

  1. Mundo's weakness basically only exists in laning phase and is far less punishing than many other tanks or hyperscaling champs for what he offers while requiring almost no skill from the mundo.
  2. Mundo exceeds hyperscaling tanks by matching their durability and exceeding them in damage and splitpush potential.
  3. Mundo simultaneously exceeds most bruisers by matching their damage and far outscaling their durability.

Thus, mundo's weakness(es) are insignificant in comparison to his overwhelming advantages as compared to the weaknesses and strengths of other champions and he is in need of a nerf... and I'd argue a rework to make him more interactive in laning phase and beyond while better fitting the thematic of a masochist/sadist.

I think RTO made a video where he explained Renekton's damage is always higher than mundo's regen at almost any point of the game. I may be wrong. But don'titem 3165 item 3123 and summoner 14 do the job against mundo?

Not in a 1v1. As I explained... mundo can very safely farm from range to prevent taking any damage from you except when he's locked under tower farming minions. So either you bring a second person to tower dive with you or you (lol) try bursting mundo from 100 to 0 by yourself under his tower. Uh.... good luck with that.

It's similar to people going against gp or a melee tank vs an adc in that you lack serious kill pressure by yourself in the case of most champs... unless the mundo doesn't know how to play. So the "counterplay" to the champ is "bring a friend, dive them, kill them". That's not good counterplay. I mean we saw a 4-5 item ornn fight a mundo under ornn's own tower with both of them having same number of items and being full hp and mundo just killed the ornn 1v1... tanking tower the whole fight. In the lcs (pretty sure it was lcs; some pro league anyways). If that doesn't scream "nerf me for real", then I don't know what does.

And while renekton's damage may be higher (if you build properly for the 1v1), it's irrelevant. Because you can't cc mundo in place long enough nor 1-shot him. Which always leaves him with the ability to run away from a fight, regen via passive and warmogs, and come back healthier than you. And that's not just applicable to renekton; it's basically every champion. If you don't believe me, just watch a pro game where mundo survives laning 1v1 w/o getting ganked and gets into teamfights with even items as the enemy top. Either he's kept in check by a fed adc or he makes darius look like he's running around with nothing but doran's blade while mundo has sunfire and warmogs... even though darius has 2 items.

And the point isn't whether or not you can 1v1 a mundo in solo queue. The point is that mundo has too many strengths and too few exploitable weaknesses (if played properly) compared to other champions right now.

I'd personally rework his kit (and better fit his thematic and role as a TANK) to force him to be melee (and therefor truly punishable for his weakness) early game. But if not... his q should be more punishing for missing it. His w used to be something you couldn't just leave "running" until you'd completed 2+ items or you'd burn your own hp bar down... now it's laughable hp cost at no items. And his e needs to be completely replaced. Giving someone that much ad steroid plus %hp damage on first hit is just stupid for a tank. I mean... does giving cho'gath 30-100 ap plus more ap based on missing hp in addition to what his current e gives sound reasonable? No. But that's just one example of what a side-by-side comparison of equivalents would look like. Obviously to do a full fair comparison we'd need to look at the entire kit of both champs involved, but I think that gives a bit of perspective to appreciate just how stupidly overloaded mundo's stats are once he gets items. Which is a big problem not because other champs don't get stats with items, but because mundo is unpunishable 1v1 before he gets items (if he plays properly) due to ranged farm and passive regen (you can't tower dive full hp mundo and kill him w/o dying yourself 1v1... you need help) and can easily run from any even numbered fight long before he dies if he realizes his side will lose after he does get items. He needs more punishable weaknesses in exchange for all the strengths he has or he needs weaker or fewer strengths.
