Auto fill past ## minutes in que.

What if Riot set a hard limit to how long you can sit in que before you will be placed in auto fill?

Lets say you are guaranteed your primary or secondary role if a match is found before the 10 minute mark, but if you wait in que for more than 10 minutes you will be placed in auto fill.

Yes, there will be people who will reset the que timer before the time runs out, but at least there is a limit.

it makes no sense to autofill people who waited longer, they're the ones who waited longer.

if anything it should be the reverse, you will get your role if you wait past a limit.

Neither way makes sense to be honest.

People who wait longer could be rewarded for their patience by not being auto-filled...but then...

People who don't queue up during those invisible and unknown windows of not being auto-filled end up filled after less than 2 minutes.

Could you imagine what it would be like if queuing up most likely resulted in you being filled shortly after doing so?

That's how it worked at the end of Season 6. After so long of waiting in queue, autofill would be enabled. The problem was people often never knew that it was on or in effect, and wondered/raged about not getting their role after sitting 5 minutes in queue.

Now people just rage about not getting their roles while waiting 40 seconds in queue.

I think the 5 minutes would at least be better.

Maybe there should be a timer that counts down "5 minutes until auto fill enabled"

I think that would work, but would ultimately become inversely effective. What that means to many is "5 minutes untill you exit and re-enter queue."

If you give people a way to avoid autofill, they WILL take it most of the time. Perhaps a more effective means would be to make EVERYONE autofill once every 5 times. So you get your preferred role for 4 games, then guaranteed autofill once, then 4 of chosen roles again.

If that's not enough, drop it to once every 4. Let people KNOW it's coming for sure, and they can prepare, instead of playing the autofill lottery every game hoping someone else gets filled. There will be games where multiple people will be filled on a team though, but I don't see it as an issue. Maybe you get autofilled into your chosen role, while still not having to fill for the next few games.

There are some other improvements that could be done that would also soften the blow. I'd like to have a notification when someone gets autofilled. It would make teammates more likely to swap roles to help out, which has the added benefit of reducing dodges.

So less players will be in queue at any single moment because people will reset by leaving and re-entering temporarily reducing the number of players and so queue timer will get longer for everyone?
