Support Jinx

On and during the discussion I reconsidered a few things, my current build is within the quote, below that is my initial text that I started the discussion with.

Start: item 2003 item 3303 item 2044 item 3340 Core: item 3158 item 2045 item 3071 item 3035 item 3508 Situational: item 3139 item 3026

I've been playing a bit support Jinx lately and it's a lot of fun and I don't get the idea it isn't viable, but sometimes it's tough though to get a team to go along with you on Teambuilder.

Counters: Any unblockable all in champion that greatly outranges her switched Q. (Leona Alistar )

Here's how I play her: First I want to mention that I do ward and everything. I always get myself a Spellthief's Edge, then I choose depending on the lane opponent to either: Max Q first, the rockets their range are easy Spellthief Edge gold + damage on the opponent. Max W first, the damage from this is really good but requires opponents that are easy to hit without risking anything yourself.

I upgrade Spellthief's Edge to Frostfang, get Avarice Blade, Sightstone, The Brutalizer, and other items until I have this end build (in random order): item 3142 item 2045 item 3139 item 3279 item 3035 item 3508

Her W would be on a 3,6 second cooldown dealing more than 700 damage and her ultimate is on a 36 seconds cooldown. So it really is fun to play, and she has a slow + snare :)

I especially like this because with this you can play her AD support (there are none atm) and she'll become extremely useful with these items and that you can apply two tactics to adjust to the situation, go for max Q or max W. She also becomes the focus of assassins but with the Chompers and movement speed I usually get away alive.

By the way, hit her E on an enemy champion and you proc all Spellthief's Edge/Frostfang passive stacks at once. It's DoT.

Velkoz likes two women in the bottom lane. Double magic penetration.

Sounds like a fun build, but make sure that your team can handle the lack of utility/tankiness/buffs that a traditional support would grant.

I.E. if you have an Amumu jungle and Renekton top, go ahead. Jayce top and Rengar jungle? No, you need more utility.

TLDR: might work with right team.

Commenting so I can come back and try this build.

The problem with putting an ADC in a support position is that it takes too much gold for them to do damage. This might work in lower ELO where lanes snowball hard, but you will hit a ceiling with this, guaranteed.

If you really wanna make this work, try running bork as a core item. 3200 gold to shred tanks despite not having any other AD is some of the best bang for your buck you're gonna get, and her ult is still a great damage contributor even without AD (in this respect, I like the penetration you have in your build). Mallet is also a more support-ish item, and can give your team a permaslow for kiting, so might be worth consideration. Max CDR is a good direction to take, and is definitely something to keep aiming for. Remember that in the support position, it is not your job do the most damage, but to help your team stay alive so they can do their damage.

Fair enough about mallet. Black cleaver sounds like a better bet, since most of your build is pretty selfish.

Don't bother upgrading spellthief if you're not going to get FQC. You're spending 500g on frostfang to get: 365g -> 865g 5 -> 10 ap 25% -> 50% mana regen 5 -> 10 gold gen on proc 10 -> 15 bonus damage on proc 2 -> 2 gp10

The AP is negligible, you can do without the mana regen, the bonus damage could be replaced by half a long sword, and the extra gold gen will probably never pay for itself. You're paying more gold for less stats. Spellthief is itself a great gold gen item, that will almost assuredly pay for itself before the game ends; frostfang is a stepping stone to FQC and nothing more.

This sounds awesome. I shall try this out. I adore Jinx!

What, not a single mention of Zeke's Herald? I love that thing when I'm doing an AD support.

Jinx does actually have a fair amount of CC and pretty good poke. It's not impossible that she would be good at the job.

The main problem with AD supports is that there isn't a support item for them.

There are no popular AD supports but they exist. Urgot and Aatrox both bring some support tools to the lane. Ashe was legitimately played as support for a couple of weeks. And there's Leona who scales off of AP but has pretty good base AD.

wouldnt vayne or quinn act better as an AD support? they can at least peel a bit for your carry and their utility isn't as item dependent as jinx

quinn has a blind, disrupt, bush check mechanic, and high mobility with her ultimate as well as ridiculous base damages due to her passive

vayne has %hp true damage and a stun/knockback

BTW: I think you should try coin instead of spellthiefs on jinx. You don't need the AP from spellthief and coin gives hp regen in addition to mana regen, plus talisman has a really nifty active.

I've been playing it a bit more and I have a winning streak of 5 now.
