I hope Skarner is a lessonl for the community.

Because he became this way due to

#COMMUNITY FEEDBACK.

Yeah guys, blame Riot all you want for this but everyone who complained, cried and whined about Skarner's rework. So Riot buffed him. But that still wasn't enough, so they had to buff him again. And again. It was only when he got to this state (65% winrate yo) that you guys said "Ok he's good now"

Please, please stop blindly complaining and asking for buffs or nerfs on champions. Because Skarner has proven all the community wants is more more more...and then gets mad when he's released in such a state.

EDIT: Should be lesson. Not lessonl

I think you are missing the big picture. Skarner was garbage in the initial changes. All of the changes he got that buffed him were last minute and there wasn't time to provide feedback on them before he went live. So the feedback worked great, it's just that Riot overdid the buffs.

ModCaptainMårvelous12 votes

The feedback was hardly "Last minute"

See here.

8/4 was the initial post. 8/5 (8/6) was when he got his first changes. 8/6 (8/7) was the next set of changes. 8/7 being the last set of changes.

In the span of 3 days, people continued to ask for buffs and did not even touch his rework. He sat there for a solid 3 days and kept getting buffs because "Thanks for reverting it but please add more".

Lugg5 votes

To be fair, 3 days is a pretty short amount of time to really see where a champ is.

ModCaptainMårvelous21 votes

Good point.

So why ask for more buffs literally a day after Riot gives them?

Catastrop1 votes

Because this community likes to jump to conclusions. They all bitched about how forcing Morde bot lane wouldn't work out, yet he's actually doing quite well for himself so far.

Lugg3 votes

I completely agree with you. You honestly should wait a week in 95% of cases. Way too many knee-jerk reactions in the community.

LordGeovanni2 votes

and riot follow the same knee jerk reactions some times. rather than create a balanced fun to play game cause you actually have to think you just search whats strong atm build it and play that

Nothing, which was my point. Judging my these boards though, you would think Sona was the worst support in the entire game. If the Boards got their way, Sona would be buffed to pick or ban status.

TotalJerk1 votes

She doesn't need a buff or a nerf. She needs a rework because she's a poorly designed champion.

Well the community asked for Darius buffs. They didn't do it. Only now, once dar is live, has Riot finally admitted he's weak, and are planning to buff him. The community really didn't want morde bot. That is something pretty much everyone can agree on but it was carried out anyways. The 325 base ms was also another global complaint and that didn't happen.

Yes skarner got overbuffed. Yes everyone asked for buffs.

When garen's initial juggernaut rework came out everyone said it was bad. Everyone asked for buffs. Riot buffed him. They asked for more buffs and mroe. RIot did so. but in moderation not overbuffing like they did with skarner. What they did with skarner would be like "Garen regens 50% of max hp every 5 seconds"(not to such a huge extent but sht like that).

Both garen and skarner had initially bad juggernaut reworks. The community asked for consistent buffs on both. Riot delivered. But garen came out pretty dang balanced while skarner darn goofed.

And that's not the only goofup they did. Initial release EKko was OP. Initial bard was bad, initial azir was a buggy bad mess, initial yas was OP initial zac was OP initial liss was OP initial zed was OP initial thresh was REALLY OP... you get the idea. Vi is an example of a release champ who was legitimatly balanced on release.

The idea of wriggle's lantern was OP, so riot removed it.. only to bring it back as devourers, which is kinda the same thing. Then they BUFFED devourers even though original devourer's was a recognized failed design and riot just made it stronger...leading to the current jungler meta.

That was on riot for overbuffing skarner. No one asked riot to do that, their balance team failed on their own. Don't blame the community for riot's mistakes =/

No. They asked. They literally continued to ask for buffs a DAY after giving Skarner some buffs on the PBE.

Riot's not completely scott-free in this regard but there was some serious community mismanagement on what is balanced.

Transgressor2 votes

nothing would've happened in the first place if they hadn't fucked him up to begin with

RoyaiChaos2 votes

I see the boards didn't learn anything from Ahri. Exact same thing lol.

PBE: "Omfg Ahri is trash now" Now (after several nerfs I might add): OMG Ahri so OP. Wtf Rito.

Don't worry the community know they did it wrong. When I saw the last pbe changes I knew he will be op. He will get nerfed and hopefully asap

Only thing he needed, was to have his crystals at different positions and they did change it.The rest has been overbuffed and i still saw many people saying he will sucks ...Hopefully he's getting an hotfix AT LEAST then more later.

skranet is very toxic chemp that is super op i want nerfing of skranet

LEEROY KLEDKINS1 votes

I never asked for any buffs other than Twitch's Q to have cooldown refunds on kills or assists and that was it because most champions I face I dont have a problem with.

All the other champs imo are good in team fights or hold their own very well.

However I hate what Riot did to buffing Darius, its so annoying that im scared to play top lane anymore unless im a cheap git like heimer or morgana so i can harass and uses moves to escape or kite.

Blade of Justic1 votes

So... We should stop talking about champs?

How do we know when Riot will listen and when they'll shut us out?

ModCaptainMårvelous2 votes

The reworks were "mostly" good for Riot listening to the community. The problem is Riot didn't stop listening.

They SHOULD listen to the community and consider their input to a moderate degree. They SHOULDN'T blindly just follow any criticism and completely, 100% follow community direction.

If that was the case I'd imagine we'd see only 4 champions not dumpstered...and every thread would be asking for them to nerf those remaining four.

Honestly, I don't think they should have touched Skarner.

TotalJerk1 votes

I think Repertoir didn't stop listening because he got caught up in the heaps of praise he was getting for doing it. Gotta admit the boards were kissing his ass pretty hard.

Shénzhì1 votes

Truth is ... the boards if the best source of information for balancing all champions. The game is built on so many inconsistencies altogether needs a fking mastermind drilling all his energy on every equation to solve the Balance War.

... and that does not happen.

So we endure until someone in Riot Games fixes everything after 6 years. Maybe they will since this missile system seems to be a big deal for them. They can work on the endless inconsistencies to make them consistent? Expect nothing but the mill of marketing...

I know there's going to be people who disagree with me on this, but at least Garen turned out pretty good.

Clear weaknesses and strengths, proper tradeoffs for buffs he received and items added, etc. Happy we had a Rioter that communicated with us on the changes.

Rain NT1 votes

I like all the changes except morde.. I dont know morde feels off to me

TotalJerk1 votes

It's funny, Darius was the most well received rework, and he turned out the weakest.

IMO this was riot's way of telling the gameplay and balance gents to fuck off.

They are STILL trying to say Garen, Morde, and Skarner suck. LOL

They knew skarner was gonna be broke, they even set aside time to hotfix him.

Darius's was the only one to flunk, and fun fact, HIS RECIEVED THE LEAST COMMUNITY COMPLAINTS

lol

SpecterVonBaren1 votes

He's still the worst of the four, not from the perspective of being able to function, but from a design standpoint.

Carry1 votes

I really wish Riot would put more weight into winrates when balancing champs and less weight into what the community says. I don't give a fuck that you retards complain about Lee Sin more than Xin Zhao. One of these champions is literally garbage and the other is god tier freelo. Please rito, pls....

Celeste Benal1 votes

wtf are you talking about? I can't recall seeing buff Skarner threads in any significant or even relatively noticeable frequency. Riot took a perfectly viable and fun champ and completely screwed him up. Again.

AMYS GRAVE1 votes

You act like riots sole balancing decisions were made based on counting qq threads, which i assure you is not the case.
