Considering that supports' gold comes mostly from assisting in kills and taking objectives with their team, the item would most likely not be worth it, especially if you give it a value that makes it unappealing to carries. There is no way it can be good enough to compensate from the fact that you no longer benefit from assists, kills, objectives, structures and shut downs while being low enough that carries won't take it thinking "why would I bother with farming and laning". Moreover, as a support main, I don't see the crisis that you and other people are talking about.
First, the gold. From my own point of view as someone who's been playing support almost exclusively since early season 1, it's pretty funny to see supports nowadays whine that they are gold-deprived. All I think is "oh sweet summer child". Like, are you guys kidding me? You're the guy who's hungry because he can't figure out which restaurant to order from, I've been the starving kid in Africa (and I don't mean you in general, I mean newer support players who keep making these threads). You definitely were not there when not only was your income significantly lower, but you had to pour it all in consumables (wards, pinks, Oracle's) instead of actually buying items (save for those that existed only to give you a somewhat stable, albeit low, income to spam more wards). I do not have gold issues, unless I am getting shafted in lane (but in that case, I'd be struggling with gold in any position).
When supports constantly had nothing but Mobis, Philo, HoG, Oracle's, and full stacks of wards and pinks in their inventory at the 35 minutes mark, and actually going for items was setting your team back because vision was all that mattered to the role, THAT was a gold-deprived support. Anyone who started playing LoL post support and vision changes does not know what "gold deprived" means. When you only upgraded your Philo to Shurelya's if you really knew you could afford losing this gold stream, now THAT was being starved.
Second, the experience. You will be roughly 2 levels behind your solo laners, which is only normal, being a duo laner: notice that your ADC will be in the same position. You will be quite close to your jungler's level, unless he stomped mid and top but did not come bot to help your wreck. If you are more than one level behind your lane partner, at any point of the game, you are either dying too much, or roaming too much with too little result, which are 2 scenarios that result from a poor ability to read the game. Again, I do not understand this complain, especially since supports (true supports) are very level independent. Most of them only need to reach lvl 6 to be able to win a team fight based on their own ability as a player, and not their level or gear. What would you guys want? To match solo laners in XP? That's simply not reasonable for a duo laner.
