When you only have w at that time (unless you hack and get a useless q or e) how do you zone? It's such short range that you are basically melee range to summon it. Even when you get q at level 2, it is very mana hungry to e -> q. The damage isn't even that good? Maybe because I use magic pen instead of whatever but still...

unless they see through your crap or they're leblanc you'll be fine. people still don't know azir sucks early on if you just run through his soldiers and directly engage him.
AJ Vulpes2 votesTry this... Auto attacking in clustered groups. Azir's auto attack with is soldiers hit multiple units, so you don't need to directly target the champ. As well the soldiers have a good distance that you can keep between you and the opponent. If none of the works well enough, try looking up Redmercy's YouTube video on how he plays azir. It goes pretty in depth.
