Here's a thought: What if Smite could be used to reset a monster's Patience?

Shaco and other ranged junglers are going to find that Patience mechanic a huge painintheass when it keeps causing resets on them. I think that one way to alleviate some of this would be to make it so that if you Smite the monster, it resets its Patience without causing it to "reset".

Good or bad idea?

What possible negative interactions would that change have?

I'm not sure I understand your question.

As for what benefits it would have, Shaco right now has a problem of causing monsters to lose too much patience when his traps die. This can result in resets in some situations, which can screw him in early clears.

That's just one example.

Well, I noticed today that Tahm has issues, since I like to devour monsters over walls with the Q+W combo, but they just instantly reset now.

As Shaco, your early clears are tough if you use your W and Q a lot to dodge hits or do damage.

As Nid, you can't toss max range spears at mobs anymore, you have to be right in their face, or they instantly reset.

This just wasn't really a well thought out idea of Riot's, as with most of their ideas. I don't really understand what was so wrong with how monsters behaved anyway, but I guess this is what we're stuck with now. All hail melee tank/bruiser junglers.

That or it's just bugged as hell.

Naw, that's how they intended it to work, unfortunately. : /
