Well I did it, I snapped and raged super hard at my support.

Due to the chat restrictions, you cannot defend yourself when someone rages at you out of fear you might get restricted for defending yourself. Because of this, you just have to eat up the rage and swallow it. Gotta keep bottling it up and it's NOT healthy!! I spent the past 5 days playing ranked, accepting the rage from my team when I was doing nothing wrong but every team needs someone to rage at and because I was the only player not talking, they chose me.

All this rage built up, and every time someone raged, I would get a massive urge to tell them where to shove it and possibly get restricted.

In the game I just played I was playing well. Always grouping when everyone else wanted too, was pretty fed too and had nice cs. Was a pretty free game until out of nowhere, my support just starts spamming chat for no reason. Raging at me for whatever reason she could think of. I did nothing wrong all game and she just never stopped spamming caps. > ''ASHE!!!! WTF!!! NOOB???'' > ''ASHE!!! LEARN TO PLAY ADC NOOB!!''

At one point, I stated 3 times, ''doing Red then getting LW then we team fight!!'' I was at Red and our Aatrox was Top lane clearing a triple wave. Leona was mid with Xerath and Rek'Sai against 5 enemies. She goes in. 3v5. They lose and die.

> ''ASHE WTF!!! WITH TEAM F^CKING NOOB!!! WTF NOOB!!!!! REPORT THIS NOOB!!! LOOK ASHE!! LOOK AT HER!!!''

Same scenario about 5 minutes later but they are bot and I am taking enemy Red to stop Graves from getting it. She goes in 3v5 and dies, I get inhib top AND mid in exchange for their 3 deaths.

> ''LOOK THIS F^CKING ASHE!!! DOING INHIBS WHEN WE TEAMFIGHT!!! REPORT THIS F^CKING BRONZE TROLL!!!!'' > ''F^CKING NOOB ASHE REPORT!!!''

Teamfight came up, 5v5. Aatrox, Rek'Sai and Leona all go straight for their Graves (Which at this point did no damage because I crushed him bot but they focus him anyway). While doing this, their tank Amumu and tank Gragas come at us and destroy us. I kite my way out of there, barely surviving but Xerath dies. While focusing Graves, their midlaner killed them all. I am the only survivor with like 50HP. > ''THIS F^CKING ASHE AGAIN!!! ALWAYS F^CKING RUNNING!!! NEVER WITH TEAM!! NOOB NOOB NOOB NOOB!!!'' > ''I COPY ASHE!!!!!''

At this point she begins to solo push top lane and does not group for the rest of game. We went top with her but she recalled and pushed bot instead. We lost 4v5. But to the point. After she started raging at me after that fight, I snapped. All that bottled up anger from previous games just burst out, I couldn't stop myself. > ''ASHE THIS! ASHE THAT!!!! ASHE F^CKING THIS!! ASHE F^CKING THAT!!!!'' > ''TRY FOCUSING ON YOUR OWN SH^TTY F^CKING GAMEPLAY BEFORE CRYING ABOUT ME!!!'' > ''NOT ONCE HAVE YOU PROTECTED ME OR XERATH ALL GAME!! ALWAYS F^CKING OPEN KAT!!!!'' > ''KAT WALKS UP TO US AND JUST INSTAKILLS US BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT DOING YOUR F^CKING JOB!!!'' > ''DO YOUR F^CKING JOB BEFORE COMMENTING ON MINE!!!'' > ''F^CKING TOXIC D^CK!!!'' > ''SHUT!!'' > ''THE!!!'' > ''F^CK!!!'' > ''UP!!!!!''

Yup. I snapped. That is about 5 days of built of rage gathered in solo queue. If in previous games I could have said > ''Dude, stop crying about me. You pushed with no wards and got punished for it. It's not my fault'' Then I would not have snapped. But the above sentence is enough to warrant a report in solo queue because everyone is so super sensitive and I don't want a restriction on my account. Due to that, I had to bottle up all the hate and it eventually overwhelmed me. The Chat Restriction System is unhealthy and broken. I genuinely fear, that I log in tomorrow with a nice chat restriction message.

Apologies for the wall of text. If you didn't read, fair enough. Just wanted to vent somewhere about my hatred for this broken report system.

Riot, do something about this please. I get raged at for 5 days and I say nothing. I rage in 1 game against a super toxic kid and I'm probably getting restricted because of it. This system makes no sense :/

You could always mute people.

Unfortunately, verbally abusing someone who is abusing you is not the correct response. The best thing is to mute someone if they are saying things that are bothering you. You can still see their pings and they can see yours, so no communication is missed.

I almost never say this to people who post about rage.

I don't think you were out of line. If I were in game, I would not have reported you. I probably would have reported Leona, if she's going in 3v5 when you said you'd be elsewhere and then blaming you when she loses the fight.

I'm more of a tilter than a rager, but here are a couple of things that have helped me skate through some of these situations without vomiting creative strings of cuss words on the offender (which I have sometimes done, I admit.)

If you can, make a joke out of it. Especially if it's just a playful joke at your own expense, this can relieve the tension. For example:

"wtf are you talking about, kid? Just got promoted to Bronze 3. I'm the fucking best. ;)"

Follow up with a calm explanation of why she's out to lunch, so she doesn't think you're a troll.

"But seriously, I told you I'd be taking red. You can engage without me if you want, but don't blame me when you lose the fight."

If neither of these seems like it'd be effective, just type in all-chat:

"This toxic Leona . . . "

Usually, if she's a legitimate problem, they'll understand, and report the right person.

Really, though, these boards need a Rage Support Group. It might help people out if they know they can just kvetch to sympathetic ears after the game.

You forgot the first rule of Bronze : Never teamfight.

Why does everyone think one game gets you restricted?

Yes, it can happen, but you have to be REALLY offensive to make that happen. F*CK is not going to land that on you, especially if pestered like that. Both offenders in an obscenity exchange can be banned, but I have seen several people who had been banned try to pass themselves off as good-ol'-boys. Trust me, this exchange you have here looks saintly compared to the junk they spew.

Long story short: You're not getting restricted from this. Heck, even Leona is safe, most likely, though she should get harsher treatment for instigating. This is small potatoes compared to the rest of League, and there's like no chance something will happen, even if all 9 report ya.

All that aside, it is a serious problem, but there's hardly a cure for it. The last thing they want to do is ban 10% of their playerbase, then lose all their friends, too. It's like these players need to explain to mommy why they lost, and they do it by chewing you out. So, how exactly do you punish these players if they must play your game?

Linthe4/1/2015, 10:47:15 PM5 votes

Dont bottle it up. Mute, report and move on.

Malix Farwin4/2/2015, 2:40:35 AM4 votes

Well besides the obvious muting people, the fact that you are on chat restriction means you had much more then the occasional outburst every now and then.

Orangesilk4/2/2015, 3:25:13 AM3 votes

Woah dude, that shit's unhealthy, stop playing the game for a bit.

Fredart4/2/2015, 11:46:43 AM3 votes

Oh noes you shit talked on a videogame boo fucking hoo. If they weren't ready for the big boy words then they would have left chat filter on.

IcyPepper4/1/2015, 9:52:45 PM3 votes

Well to be fair, for most raging responses yours was actually logical and somewhat justified.

Thought I'd never say that before, but hey. I think you'll be fine (if they ever check chat logs, you bet your ass Leona would get a chat restriction before you)

Verxint4/2/2015, 5:27:02 PM2 votes

I'm probably going to come off as harsh, but you just need to get over what other people think or do. I can almost guarantee you won't get a chat restriction or ban if you aren't actually abusive. I defend myself, I am in no way nice about it, and I have even flamed people. Yet I have never been warned, banned, or restricted.

The trick is don't get baited into a he did she did argument. State your defense rationally, one time, and leave it at that. Possibly ask them to focus on the game in a non-provocative manner. The fact that you aren't responding to their emotions will either make them shut up, or cause them to go into a blinding rage because. Either situation is fine, because in the latter you just mute and report since they'll have pissed the rest of your team off. Just don't appear like you're also raging. Don't ask for teammates or enemies support. Don't make it about proving yourself to the rager-you won't change him. And never be the first one to talk in all chat. As long as it's clear you want to play the game, not talk, you'll get less reports than someone who is purely raging. Also, people who frequently put out false reports have their reports valued down. It's possible to have the system almost ignore someone's reports. So don't worry that you can get restricted because someone has a tantrum. If they're inclined to report people for trivial shit, their reports are probably worthless.

I have a number or problems with how Riot does stuff, but I don't believe people get punished for behavior things wrongly. You can defend yourself, but if vindicating yourself becomes more important than winning, you're no better than the rager. Like I said, just use a non emotional response based on fact.

So, I supp main, and in Bronze, so if you ever want to duo, I'd love to.

P.S., I'm the opposite of ragey. I support. Ha.

that mute button doe...so useful

Droogzy4/1/2015, 11:50:44 PM2 votes

Whenever I get a rager I usually just joke it off, if you just crack jokes, at your own expense than eventually at the rager's expense, you get the rest of your team on your side.

Believe me, as a jungler I am quite experienced with this XD

Leaf of the lake4/2/2015, 1:04:02 AM2 votes

You don't get chat restriction for a single report (or even a stream of reports from a single game). If you didn't get a message after the game that you were reported, I wouldn't worry about it.

Sirsir4/2/2015, 1:55:34 AM2 votes

Mute button. People like that leona forfeit their right to have an opinion. I will calmly point out their mistakes then mute them, and that will be that. The worst thing you can do is give those ragers their satisfaction.

High Lord Blaze4/2/2015, 2:16:11 AM2 votes

Please. Use mute button... Normally I end up using it for at least one, more often two, people, almost always on my team. Either they're raging or I don't want to hear how little Timmy needs to tell Bobby to do his homework from Johnny (please keep conversations like that private. I don't care about your homework). Seriously, the latter happens a lot.

You could say that. You can't be punished for saying -exactly- that. The thing people get punished for is saying something -like- that but with a couple ... little... changes. ''Noob, stop crying about me. You pushed with no wards and got your dumb ass handed to you for it. It's not my fault you're a moron.'' -That- can get you punished. (And then the people who get punished are shocked that they got punished because they couldn't possibly be toxic if they aren't swearing...)

-However-, I don't really recommend getting into it. Trying to place blame is only going to fuel the fire. Most people recognize excuse-making when they see it, which is what blaming someone else for your own death is, with very few exceptions (Blitz or Darius pulling in the wrong target and giving them a free gap close and a bad Bard ult can really screw you over in ways that you can't really play around and still play with your team. They usually know what they did wrong though and blaming them in chat is only going to create bad feeling among the team.)

With a rager like your support in that game, I would have muted them very early and reported them at the end of the game. I'm not going to listen to that crap.

In general I don't have a lot of use for chat, TBH. It does get me free kills sometimes though, when someone is standing in the middle of the lane venting their rage at length and scrambles to even start moving around the time their health bar hits zero. I'll never understand how people have time to get into these lengthy arguments. If you're a laner, you should be CSing, shopping, or positioning for the next objective or fight. If you're a support you should be warding, sweeping, shopping, or positioning for harass, peel, the next objective, or the next fight. If you're a jungler, you should be farming, warding, sweeping, or shopping -- and looking for the next gank or objective opportunity at the same time or postioning for such a gank or objective. Maybe once every 3-5 minutes I might be autopathing such a long distance that I have time to type a couple whole sentences. Usually I only take the time to say things like 'drag under 1min' or whatever when a single ping is not going to send a clear message. (Nobody gets it when I ping an empty dragon pit.)

I simply have no time to play the blame-game or get dragged down into toxic fights when there's a match going on. Nobody who wants to win their game does, actually, even though many seem to believe all that time standing still and arguing is somehow going to help.

League: BEAUTIFUL GAME!!!!!!......

....that's ruined by assholes, cheaters, toxic players, and trolls.

This entire fucking GAME needs a community re-check, i agree with you. It's not every day that you play bots Darius and a Silver Katarina joins and KS and mocks you when you dont get the kill, "OMG THIS DARIUS IS TOTAL SHIT. IM SOOOOO GOOD YOU'RE SOOOOOO BAD!!!!!"

(I know you're out there, you toxic f*cker. I'll find you.)
